Who told you that you only need one?
He LIED!
It's always nice to have a backup. Or a New York Reload.

If I carried a gun for 20 years, I wont get rid of it. It would be like getting rid of a family member.

To answer your question, the -7 is the best version of the Model 60 that was ever made.
Newer is NOT necessarily better.

I suggest you think about keeping both of them.

Without going into all the details (I previously posted) the 60-7 is THE ONE CHIEF's SPECIAL to keep! If you do not need to sell your 20 year carry gun, keep that one too! The 60-7 is everything you want and nothing you don't in a concealed carry gun. The best one Smith every made!

Sell a gun? Not gonna happen... Unless the gun is problematic, like my old Remington 742 jammamatic... Even so, I've held onto that thing for 10 years...

I sold my 686 after 20 years of carring it. I tried to buy it back the next day but my bud would not let it go. I got it back this year thru a trade and cash with him. I think he may have been feeling sorry for me............Next time it leaves will be when my son gets it after I'm gone.

I have several J Frames, I think the term is better a "Whole Bunch" of them. I don't sell guns. I buy them and keep them.
My Children and Grandchildren will get them when I'm gone.
My gift to them......

Skeeter Skelton[you do remember him don't you?] said often,"If it's worth having it's worth have two of them."Well, I try to comply with that very sage advice. Nick

i am getting older (58). i deeply regret selling most of the guns i have sold over the years. i would not sell either model 60. if i had a project i was trying to fund, i would wait and save up and not sell a s&w. i always thought i could replace the ones i sold. i now know this is expensive and very difficult.

I've come to the conclusion that l need two of each model l have. One for shooting and one for... shooting. Maybe one for back-up... or perhaps parts... or just because. I say keep 'em both!

I own a number of J frames and the one I would not sell is my 60 no dash. J frames have always been my guns to carry when I couldn't carry a regular size gun. Never considered the sub compact semi autos.
