I like that, it should be a bumper sticker.

Amen Sheriff Wright~! He's on the local news here a good bit and he always speaks his mind. I for one think he should run for office on a larger scale. Our state needs more good men to stand for something.

That poor woman... I just can't stand rapists, child molesters, cowards like that. And the guy has 20 charges since 1983? Why do we allow people like that to walk freely in public? He should have MOLESTER tattooed on his forehead!

Thanks DAMN YANKEE
Thanks for posting. With all the PC attitude going around,
public officials don't usually say what the obvious problem or
solution is. This sheriff is a refreshing change. TACC1

Thanks for posting that Damn Yankee:
As Sheriff Chuck Wright said:
"I want you to get a concealed weapons permit. Don't get Mace. Get a firearm."
Very well said but only 1 more thing should have been added to that statement.
"And take some good , quality self defense training."
Training is the key to being more aware of your suroundings and seeing him before or as he makes his attack. Being prepared for the event that he does complete his advance and then taking action.

The attitude of this sheriff is slowly becoming the norm as people realize what a failure the CJS is. This realization is (1) the police can't protect you, (2) the CJS isn't going to protect you either, and (3) you are going to have to take responsibility for your own defense. This will be especially true in those states that, due to financial problems, are closing correctional facilities and practicing "early release". Good luck with that.

He was right when he said "I'm going to get lit up over this" but I hope that he has the resolve to see it through regardless of the pressures exerted upon him. SC is a state that is stuck in the 1800's and in some respects thats a good thing.....

I have taught 80-90 new shooters over the last 40 years, I pay for guns, ammo, range time, targets, ears, eyes, and do the training. 90+% were women who I find a LT easier to train.
I have 2 handguns out on 'loan' at this time to women who took my class and got their CCW permit but couldn't afford a handgun. One is a single mother who works nights at a liquor store, the other a single mother trying to get out of an abusive relationship.
ALL women should learn to shoot and get the mindset to use it if necessary.

My wife's dad left her a S&W and Rossi 32 revolvers, she has the Smith with her at almost all times, she loaned the Rossi to a widow-lady that lives kinda on the outskirts of town. Similar to 1old0311, she needs it where she lives. She's a country girl, grew up with guns, so all is good. This sheriff has to be supported by the locals, by the state population even. We need to be as loud as the fools who think there should be no guns anywhere- which of course means nowhere but in thew hands of criminals. It's time we all stood up and voiced what we believe.
