SEW-ON POCKETS
Anybody know where I can get some sew-on pockets?
Preferably in ballistic nylon, I'd guess.
I'd like to put some inside my winter jackets.
Thanks in advance, TACC1.

You may have to buy some ballistic fabric and fashion your own pockets. There are some online retailers but you have to buy in large quantity. I checked Ebay and there are smaller quantities available.

Are you wanting to use it as a means of CCW? I took a nylon pocket holster and stitched it as an inside pocket on a denim vest. Added a small strip of nylon as a retention device. Works great, took about 5 minutes, and it doubles as a very nice eyeglass pouch. :-)

I thought about the sewing...
I thought about getting some material, and just making a
CCW pocket, then remembered how well I sew. I did consider
using a holster or a camera case. The idea of using a holster is
sounding better all the time. I think I'll try that first.
Thanks, TACC1.

Maybe you or Mrs Tacc1 knows someone that sews? Maybe an embroidery shop?

Hadn't thought of that, either. I found one that stitched up canvas
for a ground blind, a while back. Could definitely handle ballistic nylon.
Thanks, TACC1.

Just buy the fabric. Then bring it to your dry cleaner. They usually have a tailor on the payroll.
Every sweat shirt and cardigan I buy I bring in and have a small strip of Velcro sewn in the slash pockets so things (important things) don't fall out when I bend over. The Velcro closes the pocket about 1/3 the way. My dry cleaner takes care of this for me.
In any event, if you buy the fabric, then cut a piece of paper to the exact shape and size you want and pin it to the interior of the jacket in the exact spot you want it. Then tell the tailor to make a pocket to fit that spot. And that he should double row stitch it in place.
The other alternative is to buy a inside the pocket holster and have it sewn in place. I think Safariland makes one in ballistic nylon.

My Wrangler bluejean jacket did not come with any inside pockets. It was a lined jacket. I took it to a local lady who does a lot of sewing and had her add a pocket to fit my Nemisis pocket holster for my 638. I also had her add 2 pockets on the other side for 2 speed strips, and another pocket below the speed strip pockets for my handcuffs. Now that I am retired a keep a note book in the cuff pocket.
Another thought is a real clothing store. They normally have a Tailor located to do alterations.
