K Frame Airweight Blues
Been hunting a model 12 forever.Wish they were still being made. Really like the idea of 6 rounds for carry in a lightweight pkg.
Who carries one?

My wife carries a M12-3. Actually, it was to be my carry piece, but the moment my wife saw it, it was her's. The Jay Scott "pearls" are her idea, so don't tell her they are junk.lol

I carry a 12-2 from 1975. Six shots,a bigger frame and it's fun to shoot. Whats not to like?

S&W came out with a few of the 315 Night Guards that were basicly an improved Model 12. I cannot believe S&W did not keep it in production longer. Possibly the high price killed them off.
An Airweight K Frame Snub is a very good concealed carry size handgun. A large enough platform to shoot well, and yet light enough to conceal carry. A very good combination, especially for the wife. Most ladies will not put up with packing the weight of a steel K Frame snub. However most all will shoot a K Frame much better than a J Frame.
S&W needs to get an Airweight K Frame Snub back in production in my opinion. If they could manage to keep it in the price range of the J Frame Airweights they should be able to sell them in quantity I would think.

Wish I still had it! It was the only thing I would carry off-duty.

While I am a loyal S&W fan, if you want 6 shots in a light weight j-frame sized carry piece look at the Colt Agent.

Unless I'm mistaken, those are about as hard to find as model 12's!
Colt has ceased all revolver production haven't they?

I keep seeing a few Model 12s at gun shows in the $450.00-$550.00 range. I haven't been able to come up with the cash to get a brace of them for my foot patrol days at work, so I'll keep carrying my 4 inch Model 10 and my snubbie Model 37 on those days.

Of the I think four Model 12's I looked at last year, they all had cracked frames under the barrel. I don't know if that comes from hammering away with +P or if I just have stellar bad luck at finding used guns.
I wonder if they made an alloy framed short barrel 581/681 just how well that would sell. I know I keep posting that I would love a short barrel 581 or 681. The L frame would weigh more but I bet it would be less of an ammo use worry. Just a thought.

I carried two Model 12s. A square butt and a round butt, both two inch barrels.
Used W-W standard velocity Silvertips for ammo. negative complaint.
Also had a Model 12 round butt with a four inch barrel. Also a great carry piece.

Colt Agents are hard to find but every so often one pops up. The real sweethearts are the ones they made in polished blue; look good and have a wonderful trigger.

That's been my problem too. Last one I found was across town. Got there and the gun was, from all I could tell, never shot. Beautiful! Then I looked under the barrel. Ugh!

I remember you selling that 4 inch, I'm still kicking myself for not buying it.

Hi, Pete:
Yes, the year 2010 was the year I sold my "Collection" to pay for on going medical issues. At least my "Babies" went to good homes with various Forum members.
That four inch Model 12 was a "Jewel".

I was looking for a lightweight "larger frame" carry gun and couldn't turn up a decent Model 12. Went with the next best thing (perhaps even better, depending on one's opinion) --> Model 242. Found one NIB from a forum member a while back. Carries just like a light weight J frame, but with two more rounds. Tough to turn up, but not impossible, and probably easier than a VG condition 12.
