Default Just ordered a new holster from Lobo Gunleather

I just ordered a Model 1 from Lobo Gunleather for my no-dash 640. I have a Model 1-SL for my 3" 65 and think it's excellent quality for a very good price. I especially like that I can add a hammer shield (I'm a fat guy).

Now I need some advice. I did not order a means to carry a reload because I haven't settled on speedloader, speedstrip, or 2x2x2.

I only hesitate to order the speedloader holder because I find the one I have for my 65 to be less than perfect. I use the Safariland Comp II. If I use the Safariland Comp I for the 640, there's practically nothing to grab onto.

What do people think of those spring steel speedloader holders made by Safariland? At least it leaves the sides open to get a good hold on the speedloader.

What does everybody think about carrying a reload for a snubby?

Thanks for your thoughts,
Continental Op

If I'm carrying my Glock 30 or 36 as my primary, then my snubby is my BUG and I don't carry a reload. Likewise, if I'm carrying the snubby as primary then I have a Seecamp for backup, no reload.

Is that what they call New York reload?

You will not trust the spring steel Safariland carrier, unless they have improved. I do not believe they have. If I were to use one for concealed carry, I would probably find a couple wide rubber bands to secure my speedloader in the carrier.

You might consider a Tuff Products Quick Strip. I believe Lobo will make a single carrier for one.
I have been carrying two Quick Strips on the belt in the Tuff Products Quick Strip Carrier lately. You need to take a second and reclose it after getting a Quick Strips out, or you will more than likely dump the second one. My brother and I have been practicing reloads in a match using Quick Strips. We have found out the hard way that you can loose the second Quick Strip if you do not resecure the pouch.
Also consider getting the Quick Strips in Orange. You can find them on the ground after doing a Tactical Reload. Much better than Black.

Bob

Carry a speed strip in watch pocket and be done with it.

For what its worth I carry a Model 327 NG 2.5" and I use a speedloader holder and speedloader from 5 Star Firearms. I actually bought two speedloaders with a range block but only carry one speedloader when out and about. Ive had no problems with it but Im easy to satisfy perhaps. Im pretty quick with my reloading and extracting it from my belt. Plenty to grab with the 5 Star. My speedloader holds 8 at a time so it may be a bit different, not sure.

I go with speed strips. Safe, secure, easy to carry. The chances of you actually needing a quick reload are small so it is more having it available than having it instantly available IMHO.
