I bought a BG38 for home defense and the laser may be useful if I have enough time to turn it on, but if I'm in bed at night and I need to see the sights quickly, a night sight would be useful. I see that XS Sight Systems has an XS Big Dot front sight for the BG38. I'm wondering if anybody out there has used one.

This is just me, and the way I've grown accustomed over the years, so I'm only tossing my stuff out there (cue internet flaming in 5...4...3...2... LOL)

My primary HD Handgun has a light on it, period. I'm not about to try to retrain my brain to look for a laser when using a handgun over watching front sight post.

An added bonus is that my light has a strobe option that will sizzle your retinas (and makes some nauseated instantly). That strobe hits your brainstem in the dark, and I don't care who you are...it's gonna have an effect. Plus, it may give you that few seconds edge when BGs senses are jakked. I've used this feature in real situations in years gone by...it works.

Thats how I roll.
