My CCW license came through today.
Just picked up my California CCW permit today.
The following three weapons were listed on the permit:
LCR 357
S&W M60 - current production model, 3" with adjustable sights.
S&W M31-1 - in 32 S&W long.
I figure the LCR will be my primary carry gun. Either with Critical Defense 110 gr. 38 Special (not plus P) or Buffalobore SWC hollow points (FBI). I also have +P versions of both loads, but haven't tried them in the LCR yet.
I put the M60 on as a camping/backpack/car gun as it's a bit heavy to carry -- but could be done.
The 31-1 will most likely be a backup to the LCR shooting buffalobore wad cutter ammo.
I'm limited to 3 guns on my permit, but can change to other guns at some point if desired.
Just a few days ago I got my Utah non-resident permit which covers a bunch of Western and Southern states.
This is all new to me as I've never carried a concealed gun before.

Congratulations, get yourself one of these;
Or one of these;
It'll hold up that M60, no problem and off ya go.

Congratulations on getting your license (I don't like the term "permit", sounds servile somehow). Carry it and your guns in good health, and the knowledge that you aren't now bulletproof.

Congrats! I remember when I got mine and how excited I was. I also remember how fidgety I was when I first started. Just remember 99% of the nerves will be in your own head. Carry often and it will become second nature.

It is a good feeling isn't it! Here in Ohio, you can also carry as many guns as you can conceal. If I enter touchy territory I will have a 9 IWB and a 380 in my left pocket. It is most reassuring. I am glad for you.

Congratulations, especially for living in one of the counties that issues permits. Now train often and well .

Even in Illinois we don't have to list what firearms we plan to carry. We can carry anything we can conceal, regardless of what we qualified with.

Even NV gave up on the list of guns the last time they messed with our permit structure.

May I inquire which county you received your CCW from?
I love my Bodyguard .380 and newly acquired Glock 42.

Congrats. You should carry, daily, nightly, always.
The fact that you have to list 3 guns makes my skin crawl a little but the fact that you got the permit makes me smile.

Well it's really not a problem for me as I don't intend to switch around carry guns that much. Three are enough choices.
There is some advantages to the current system, because this way the issuing agency can be sure we have qualified with an instructor in each of the guns we might carry. The qualification doesn't require great marksmanship, but did emphasize safe handling of the guns we might carry.
One guy came with an nice looking old revolver and a box of 38 short colt ammo for it.
Well, it turns out the gun was chambered in 38 S&W.
The instructor sent him away and told him to come back another day with the correct ammo.
There is some value in having people show basic skills before qualifying them to carry.

Los Angeles resident here- quite jealous. It's lame that I'm in a city that can be so dangerous, yet as of now I can't get a ccw. I pray that will change soon once others start to get their permits.

Wow. Yes I agree 100%. It's wild how many gun owners are out there are so ignorant. I hear people at the store or range ask questions and it's like, wait a minute, you say you've shot guns all your life?!? Did someone else buy everything and load them for you?
Personally I think that ccw requirements should be a tad more rigorous, as with the driving test. At least get em on the freeway!

Congratulations.
I must agree with those bothered by a limitation on the number of guns you can have on your license/permit. Three? Sometimes I carry three guns at one time. I couldn't work under those circumstances...

Congrats on getting the license. We always hear how hard it is to get a CCL in California, can you go through the process in getting yours?

The issue in California is that each country is different.
The county sheriffs have a lot of flexibility in the process.
So, the best thing to do is to look on the Web and find the process you need to go through in the county you live in.

I thought I was going to have to get my CHL replaced. My dog shredded my wallet a few weeks ago containing many ID's. The CHL was spared! He did chew up my DL and military ID. That one was worrying me the most. Colonel sir my dog ate my ID. What kind of dog? Bird dog Sir. Don't worry about it then, those are good dogs. We'll get another ID made for you. Thank you Sir.
