belly band poll
Let me start by saying I have put my order in at my local LGS and I heard the guy mention that there are about 35 people in front of me. Hopefully I will get it this summer to carry.
Belly bands. How many people use them? Does anyone like them? Pros/Cons?

I use them when I wear shorts with no belt.

They're OK and I use them sometimes, but they can be very uncomfortable in warm weather.

This is a popular thread if you search. I too have exhausted it. BTW, I carry in one most of the time.

The gun I don't carry every day at work is in a belly band under a tucked in shirt. Has been for years.

I use a belly band when I go on bike rides and plan to carry on a 70+ mile bike ride this Wednesday. Pistolwear is what I went with, and cheap enough to not be kicking your self if you dont like it.

Workouts, and walks
When working out at home and taking early morning walks with my old Sheltie, belly bands work well. The wide one, 6", works well with my 296 44 Special. My 5" old De Santis works well with an old 3" model 37.
They do have a place.

I've had one for years, it's not gonna' be long 'til I need a replacement.
As has been said, hot in the summertime but it holds the revolver in close and it's best ( for me ) as an appendix carry at the belt line.
I carry a stainless J frame ( Mod 60 ) in it because I think a blued gun would be more apt to corrode.
Always have holster options for the way you dress. The worst thing would be to not have what you need to carry concealed and leave your CCW at home.

It's OK, but I like IWB's better. Crossbreed makes some good one's for dress shirts/formal wear.

Hate them. I prefer IWB's. That's after 19 years of concealed carry. Just me.

I have one somewhere... haven't used it in years and didn't care much for it when I did, although I suppose it could have a place if you aren't willing to adjust your dress style to suit another carry method. In general I have always favored IWB. But, I just recent got a Smartcarry for those times that IWB isn't practical. I haven't gotten a lot of experience with it yet, but after using it some I believe that it may work very well for me when I need to use a deep concealment method. It won't replace my IWB holsters, but for what it is I like it so far. I still need to practice drawing from it but so far I have found it more comfortable than a belly band, and it is virtually invisible, even when I raise or remove my shirt.

I use one when I go running. It hides everything from my 43C to my Glock 21.

I have one I bought yeas ago and a DeSantis I picked up this summer. Never used either one, but plan on trying out a number of gun combinations this fall on long walks to see if something likes me. Ivan

I recently bought a pocket gun, and haven't used mine since. Easier to drop this in my pocket than go for the ellyband- but I will still use it on occasion- nice to have in my holster drawer.

Same here kennyb. I like the fact that I can leave it on while changing from sweats to shorts or what ever.

I got out a Galco Underwraps today, and tried it for a couple of hours with a M-36 in the crossdraw position and a compact LDA 45 in the 3 o'clock position at the same time. I'm hooked! after I came home from voteing switched to 2 Sig 220's in 45acp these are a little on the heavy side and when sitting a little "pookey" on the sweater, but this is alot of fire power. Full size 45 mags in the pouch pook the sweater, but compac mags are OK on my big belly. I plan on getting one for the wife's Glock (she has a much small waist than I). This could be her wintertime carry solution, with skirts and pants and all. Definitly put the band on without the gun(s) in it, backwards. Then turn it around and load up. I'll try to get to the club today, and do some draw and shoot drills with revolvers and autos. Ivan

Ivan, please tell us how this works for you....I'm shopping for the best options to carry (New to me....) and don't want/Can't spend another small fortune on Carry gear. I'm 66, 225, 5'10" and wear jeans nearly all the time......There's more "me" than space in my pants as it is, and I don't want to buy a new wardrobe either. Funny how nearly every Holster maker shows guys in their '20's with 34" waists modeling their products......They look good and sell a lot of product, but it isn't any more "real-life" than every over 20 male in America wearing 5-11's and Tactical vests all the time.......I digress................Zebulon

I am not a big fan of Belly Bands unless there is a need for deep concealment. Since I am not a LEO that has not been necessary for me so I stick to OWB, Pocket or IWB carry. I used Ankle carry years ago but found it too uncomfortable and too slow to get into action. My gun also got wet one time too many!
