Old holsters
I was watching "The FBI Story" with Jimmy Stewart made in 1959 and as I watched they were using holsters with exposed trigger guards and I realized I have quite a few of those now. And I got them right of this forum.
I will have to find a Hogan's alley to wander through.
Most of them I got from Rbbt.

Remember, when walking Hogan's Alley... Don't shoot the FBI Agent clearing the building with a Thompson!
(I just finished watching it also.)

That's a Myres Threepersons holster. Along with the Heiser FBI model
holster they were the choice of the top gun men of that era.
These two Myres holsters belonged to a Houston FBI agent.

Jelly Bryce was one of S. D. "Tio Sam" Myres' honorary pall bearers.
I'm fond of the Thompson as well.

Old Holsters
Those holsters are a part of americana, but I'm glad the holsters now cover the trigger guard.

Nothing says "classic" quite like the Tom Threepersons' style holster. Whether you're carrying a Colt Single Action Army (like Tom himself) or a classic S&W or Colt double-action wheelgun, the Threepersons' holster just completes the rig!
Designed by Tom Threepersons, legendary Texas lawman, and made by S.D. Myres Saddlery in about 1920. The original became the pattern for law enforcement and sportsmen throughout the 20th Century, and its basic lines can be seen in the work of just about every American holster maker of that century.
Attached photos show Tom Threepersons' original holster (now in a private collection) and a few variations from my shop.
