Default "Left Coast" carry and transport thereto.

(Cliff notes at end.)

Found myself missing great lacrosse so headed to Palo Alto, CA, where the Big 4 of women's lax are prepping for next summer's World Cup.

Flew from BWI to San Jose, CA, (SJC) via US Airways. Once again, NO problem(s) whatsover at BWI. Counter agent didn't ask a question(s) nor want to see the gun. Orange tag in my Samsonite suitcase and off the bag went on a conveyor. Bag and I arrived safe and secure in San Jose. Had a few beers poolside and went for a nap that turned into 12 hours of sound sleep due to my 0230 wakeup and drive pre-flight.

Went for an early a.m. workout and breakfast where I happened upon an obvious LEO. I made him for a US Marshal...likely...and he eyeballed me suspiciously. That was probably due to my pink and blue shorts, UA polo, and sweaty headband. LEO was toting something rather large but dressed nicely in a dark suit with American flag lapel pin. I had a 642 in a Remora IWB. Gun was, obviously, undetectable to the LEO.

Off to Stanford University for afternoon matches and quickly learned the 101 is the worst highway in all the US of A. At least it was for anyone (me) driving a Mazda 3 with 50K on the clock who didn't know exactly where he was going. Seriously, the craziest driving I have witnessed in many a year.

Sooooooo many bicyclists in and around the Stanford campus, but all were paying attention and adhering to traffic controls. 'Twas a most peaceful and quiet place.

Back to my hotel near SJC and out and about that evening for som fun and food. Had heard San Jose was a rather gritty town. Not so near my hotel...a lovely Marriott Courtyard on Technology Drive.

Back to Stanford for a second day of lax yesterday and headed back home very early today. Alas, 3 hour delay at SJC for mechanical reasons and now enduring a 4 hour wait in Phoenix. But the beer is cold and free in the US Airways Club. They will pay (with the beer I consume ) for their causing me to miss a hugely important function at UMD this evening. My arrival there will be six (6!) hours too late. But I digress...

Check-in at SJC was also unevenful, but US Airways agent DID want to ensure gun was unloaded. Removed it from the case and showed him that it was. He did insist that I secure the orange tag to the actual Doskocil case with tape. Suitcase then went onto the conveyor. No worries.

Cliff notes:

Trip to California via US Airways with gun in checked bag was worry free. TSA locks were again used. I didn't get locked up or fined as some insist would/should happen. Remora holster is spectacular for concealed carry. Cali drivers drive crazily on the 101. Stanford U bicyclists obey traffic rules. Australia won their first two matches.

Be safe.

We're you licensed to carry in CA, I did not think the State of CA had any reciprocity. We're you carrying under LEOSA
