Well, I'm "guessing" it is sort of what I do.

I carry a Kimber Pro, a Walther PP, and a S&W 19-2.

It all depends on where I'm going and what I'm wearing as to which one I belt on. That would be my "rotation".

seasonal wardrobe might dictate some rotation to smaller arms in the summer but I carry one primary without exception. Familiarity is your friend when nothing else is

My primary depends on my mood, how I'm dressed, and where I'm going. The 442 is always there, though....

I would suggest that the fewer pistols actually carried, the better. This is for the sake of familiarity, which ups survivability in a defensive situation. I do tote compact size Glocks, J-frames and 4" K-frames, depending on the season as well as the clothing options suitable to fit my surroundings.

The defensive pistol is not a fashion statement; it is a tool to protect your hide from the evil doers out there. I choose holsters that are comfortable and quick to present from. Lobo Leather makes a fine ISP holster for 4" K frames.

Thumbs up Belt loops and holsters

often determine what I carry. I really prefer IWB, but sometimes waistline may make the determination. The position of belt loops determine where the holster will ride.

This week with the wind and cool wx, I have been wearing Carharts with a 329pd IWB in a Sparks holster. Most of the time I carry a revolver, and when I don't, a 1911. The exception is a P7 in a fanny pack when I know a doc is going to have me undress.

My EDC is a 442 and on those rare instances when I cannot adequately hide my 442 I go w/a Keltec P32. As has been mentioned I don't rotate due to lack of familiarity w/other weapon platforms. Our fine motor skills go south very quickly during a panic self defense situation, and that is not the time to fumble with a weapon you are unfamiliar with.

I carry a J frame as a BUG, always. My other guns vary with the seasons. It's hard to hide a 29 for example, in shorts and a T-shirt. I do make sure I shoot 300-400 rounds through my seasonal guns before carrying them again.

I carry a number of different guns depending on the need. Some times I feel like a revolver guy and others a semi-auto guy... many times it is both. I usually carry two guns but all are DAO so pull and go.

My gun closet has now been downsized for a more simple set up. My Glock is a duty gun and my Sigma is my off duty gun. My j-frame is a BUG for both guns. Problem solved

Sell the Sigma and buy another identical Glock.
Buy a 2nd J-Frame.
Buy 2 AR's, or if you can't afford it two 12 GA 870's.

I think that better solves your problem.

Why would I sell a perfectly good firearm for a Glock? Why would I need two J-frames or an AR. I already have one shotgun.... thats enough.

I switch around a lot with my carry guns. I just plain like guns, and I get a lot of pleasure from carrying different ones.

Sometimes I carry "worn" guns when I am working in the yard, etc. The situation, or weather also dictates the size. J,K,L, or N. Sometimes I just like to carry a polished nickle, or a real nice blue gun. Sometimes it feels nice to carry my F-Comp with the burl grips. . . . . .Then there are "light" ones, and "heavy" ones, and the 9mms, and the 380s, and the Colts . . . . ."So Many Guns, So Little Time."

They are all revolvers, and I practice as much as I can with each size, so to me they are all pretty much the same if it comes to defending myself. I do try to carry the largest frame that I can at the time.

I like my 1911s too. Even though I don't carry one very often I shoot them better than my revolvers, and I have big ones, and smaller ones, and rough ones, and etc.

My hobby is guns, I like them, and I enjoy carrying as many of them as practical.

Best Wishes,
Tom

I agree with Tomthe Turner.
I like my revolvers, and have several in my rotation.
By the way, I live in a fairly low threat area.

Some times I carry my 4" 617, or LCR-22. I normally carry the 22's when I think I might get a chance to burn up some ammunition in quanity.

When I go light I carry my 442 Pro Moon Clip. I carry in a Lobo Model 1 Pancake most of the time. However I also have a Nemisis and JR Roo pocket holster for Jacket Pocket carry.
I carry my reloads in California Competition Works SAM 5 Shot J Frame Moon Clip Carriers (Either one of Two) I have several TK Moon Clips for it.

Next up in size would be my 315 Night Guard. Carried in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake. Either 1 or 2 reloads in Safariland Comp II Speed Loaders carried on the belt in Safariland CD-2 Spring Steel Speedloader Carriers.

Then my next up would be my 3" 66-2. Concealed Carry Perfection. Carried in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake. Same Speedloaders and carrier as above.

Then we have the 4" 686. Carried in a Bianchi Pancake. Again either 1 or 2 Safariland Comp II Speedloaders carried in CD-2 Carriers. The L Frame Speed Loaders have Green Dots on the top to keep them seperate from the K Frame ones.

Then we have my 310 Night Guard. Again carried in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake. Moon Clips carried in California Competition Works SAM Carriers. A Great Concealed Carry Revolver.

Then we would have the 3" 625-3 Power Custom Combat again carried in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake. Moon Clips again in California Competition Works Carriers.

Then sometimes I carry my Custom 4" 610 No Dash Power Custom Combat.

My newest addition to the Rotation would be a super clean 2 Inch 15-4 Combat Masterpiece. It needs a Lobo Enhanced Pancake or Model 1 Pancake. I have not decided yet.

I not only carry all of the above. I shoot them in our Club Matches. I rotate through 2, 3, or 4 revolvers in our Outlaw IDPA Match which has a Rimfire Division as well as a BUG Divisions that you can shoot either Rimfire or Center Fire in. I may only shoot 1 or 2 of my Revolvers in our Steel Challange match.
I also carry my Custom 1911 some.
If I only owned one ar two concealed carry handguns I would live. However I like lots of different handguns and I do not collect Safe Queens.

You can carry several different handguns in a rotation if you:
Shoot them all a great deal.
Carry them in the same holsters and location on the belt.
Carry your reloads in the same location all the time.

How are you going to determine what the BEST Concealed Carry handgun is, if you only carry one.
Variety is the Spice of Life.

Bob

I really like to rotate my carry guns for the purpose of continued familiarization. When carrying a particular gun, I like to take opportunities throughout the day to consider the carry of each gun, the feel of it, the manual of arms of this particular gun, and most importantly, I'll run through a few draws from the holster at the end of the day before it's put up for the evening. For me, it's about maintaining a "feel" for the gun. I would never consider carrying a gun that I'm unfamiliar with. Your draw and utilization of a handgun must be a "knee-jerk" reaction when you need it, and it will be slow and clumsy if your gun is an "every now and then" gun.

I carry from one to three pistols and revolvers plus spare magazines or speed loaders depending on time of year, what I am wearing, what I am doing, and where I am going.

I pocket carry one of two Sig P238 HDW .380 AP pistols and a spare magazine in my home or yard. When I go to town, I add one of three 1911 .45 ACP pistols OWB at 3:00 o’clock and a spare magazine at 9:00 o’clock.

If I take my dog for a walk in our neighborhood, I swap the 1911 for a Glock G20SF 10mm and two spare magazines. To the north is town, to the south is rural with the potential of meeting coyote, mountain lion, or rabid wildlife. A mountain lion recently killed some goats less than a mile south of my home.

In the summer wearing shorts and an un-tucked oversized shirt or t-shirt, I find concealing an S&W .357 magnum revolver or two with smooth wood grips is easier than a blocky pistol. The rubber type grips cause my shirt to bunch up.

In the Oregon woods, I go with a .44 magnum revolver. If there is a potential of meeting a brown bear or a pissed off moose, I go with an S&W 460XVR.

I am left-handed and right eye dominant. I normally carry and shoot right-handed. I can qualify equally well with either hand. Weak hand drills are a snap.

I agree with the other members, in that what I carry depends on where I am going and what I will be doing. That being said, the following two handguns are the ones I predominantly carry:
1. S&W 629 Revolver - .44 MAG with non-fluted cylinder
2. Beretta PX4-Storm "Special Duty" - .45 ACP
The above being said, I must confess that my Beretta Special Duty is carried more often (probably 85% of the time) and in a Blackhawk Serpa CQC holster (which carries my Beretta tight to my body allowing for great concealment).

In my opinion, when it comes to concealed carry, one cannot simply look at the handgun alone, but must also take into consideration the holster that will be used. Depending on the persons body build and the above two considerations, a person could carry a full size handgun concealed! It is all a matter of what the person is more comfortable with!

Of course just my 2 cents.....

I have only three handguns in my rotation. A 3" 65, my favorite, is what I carry when I know I'm in low crime potential areas. A 442 when deep conceal is necessary and as a back up. A Glock G19 is what I carry the most, I can conceal it year round.

When I hear "rotation" the first thing that comes to mind is how you guys who carry semiautos need to rotate the ammo you carry when it's constantly getting beat up by all that chambering and unchambering. Gets expensive, doesn't it?

I have two sigs, 5 1911's and I carry one of them everyday---have for 40 years.
I don't use a holster for carry unless it is a revolver that I want to carry---in the pants waist is very good and VERY concealable.
Seasons do not mean anything when deciding what I am going to carry.
I have taken to carrying a M28 in a shoulder holster when I make day trips around the state--that said--inside my pants when driving is very comfortable for me.
Blessings

I don't do a lot of chambering personally unless I need to clear it for some reason. It stays loaded when it goes in the safe. Minimizes unnecessary handling.

I normally carry one of two guns. Either my 9c or my 4003. I carry the 4003 hammer down safety off so the difference in the manual of arms is small.

For me it works like this:

Weather-I carry bigger guns in cold weather because I can more easily conceal them. My N Frame 24-3 .44 special or my Glock 21 full size .45 auto for example.

Activity-If I'm going to be on the beach or out doors and more active I carry IWB so it is usually something a little smaller.

Dress-sometime dress requirements will dictate what and/or how I carry. IWB, OWB, ankle, shoulder holster.

But I think my favorite answer to this question is just plain old variety. Changing what and how you carry to me makes it more interesting and more fun. After all...who wants to carry the same old gun in the same old way day in and day out.

For me it boils down to a couple of things. What I'll be wearing and how deep the concealment needs to be and what I perceive the dangers to be.

For example, around by home town which has a very low crime rate I most generally carry a S&W Model 60-1 .38 Chiefs Special loaded with 158gr. Soft lead SWC-HC. I'll also throw in my pocket a couple of Bianchi speed strips. I absolutely do not feel under-gunned with this set up.

If I am traveling to Omaha, Des Moines or Sioux City I will most generally carry my Glock 30 .45 ACP with a backup magazine. Since I know the crime rate to be significantly higher and the possibility of a SHTF incident in these cities I feel more comfortable with my Glock.

These are my only two EDC carry weapons. I carry both in a Crossbreed SuperTuk holster. I try to keep it very simple.

Glock 23 95% of the time. Glock 27 5% of the time. Both mandated by agency policy. No other manufacturers allowed for off duty. Use a Glock Sport/Combat beltslide and Glock polymer mag pouch. If I am dressed, I am armed. Pure and simple.

My winter carry is either my 3" 686 or my 2 " 686. My summer carry is my M60 3".

I'm not looking to engage in warfare with my neighbors. If you been in real training, a shotgun for the house will provide a lot more benefits than an AR ever will. I do not have a need nor want for an AR, due to state laws, I can't hunt with it and I am not wannabee military. A real shooter should be able to shoot a gun from a different platform with no problems given enough training to done. If what you said hold true, then someone that carries a wheel gun and autos should sale off all of their wheel guns or all of their autos due to the fact that they are different platforms. Typically, one that say a product is better than another but offer no reasoning behind it is normally not a person that I hold too faith in. As someone who really owns a Sigma 9mm and a Glock .40 (not internet own), outside of cheap ammo that has misfired in both guns, my Sigma has gave me over 20K rounds of problem free ownership. My Glock has gave me under 1K rounds of problem free ownership.

About nine months a year I carry a Colt DS .38 special. In the winter, when the trolls wear more clothing, I carry something bigger, usually a .45 or 10mm automatic.

KISS rules here. 95% of the time it's this: The other 5% another revolver, like a K-frame snubby. I don't ever want to have to think about how the handgun I'm carrying operates. I want simple.

I rotate between a P229R, a P6 and an FNP40 and on occasions a Beretta 92fs Centurian.

I rotated through hundreds of pairs of pants and shoes in the 27 years I carried a gun to work daily, but only two guns an M 19-3 along with an M-60 back up.

Even though I own lots of guns (and some really cool one's at that ) I carry my M60-7 98% of the time and a M65 the other 2% when in the woods. Although the K frame is a bit larger, the workings, controls, feel, design and operation is identical and I don't have to think about "what gun do I have today" if and when I ever need it.

I rotate my shoes, clothing, and what I eat for dinner, but not my carry guns. I also subscribe to the "KISS - theory".

Two rotations:
About every month or so I clean my 4513TSW EDC after shooting ball ammo at the range. I take it down in-between to clean the the lint out of the action and the backup mag, and put the rounds back in randomly. After around 6 - 8 months I empty the SD mag at the range, rotate the backup SD mag to be the primary, and pick another mag from the pile and load that one as my SD backup mag.

Other rotation is infrequently just for fun I carry my 60-10. I am just as proficient with it as my 4513 within 7 yds and I can draw it just as fast and hit a paper plate just as well.

And tonight I had to dress up so I had my 642 in my jacket pocket for a couple of hours.

Variety is the spice of life. I like to carry whatever I'm in the mood for from 3rd gen autos to a variety of revolvers.

For the most part though, I go for a double action revolver. A strong preference for Colt D-Frames with boot grips for pocket carry, a 2" with full size stocks for shoulder holster carry, and a 3" for belt carry.

I rotate between a Sig P238 and a Kahr MK40. Both are good pocket / car console carries. Both are loaded with Gold Dot self-defense hollow points.

Carry rotation? All I carry are .38 Special and .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson revolvers. The manual of arms remains unchanged. On duty: 4 inch S&W Model 686-6 as a duty revolver, 1⅞ inch S&W Model 37 as back-up. Off duty: 3 inch S&W Model 13-3 or 4 inch S&W Model 10-5 with the Model 37.

My theory has always been, no matter what your carrying be proficient and comfortable with the weapon. Learn the gun or guns inside and out. Practice and training is the key.

I don't have a "rotation" per se. I have several guns that I carry dependent upon what I'm doing and/or what I'm wearing. I only carry two types of handgun - 1911s and variants and S&W DA revolvers. I'm well versed in the operation of both platforms and have no issues going from one type to the other.

Duty - FNP45 Tactical
Off duty: Colt 1991A1 Compact
BUG/Off duty: S&W 360J
Field/Recreation: S&W 327NG
