Shield Ankle Carry
My wife just got her 9mm Shield and is looking for the best ankle holster for this gun. Is anyone carrying the Shield in an ankle holster that they recommend?

Uncle Mike's ankle holsters are not bad at all. I have two of them.
However, remember that ankle holster access is not particularly easy.
It takes a lot of practice to get proficient at ankle draw. It's certainly
better than not carrying, but it's not easy. I carried a Model 36 as a
backup, and off-duty, when in law enforcement, and we had to
qualify with the ankle holster rig at the range. Not the best way to
carry, but it works.

Thanks KrackerKen,
I agree with your point that it's not the best method. Originally, she wanted to purse carry, so we are making progress. I also got her to order a Remora IWB. I'm hoping she will like the idea

There are two holster manufacturers that always rise to the top with ankle holsters; Galco Ankle Glove and the Renegade. I've tried a lot of ankle holsters over the years and the Ankle Gloves works very well for me with a J Frame. However Galco does not offer the Ankle Glove for any of the M&P series of pistols. They have a bargin line (soft leather) series of holster in the Ankle Lite where they do offer it for the M&P; however having tried one of these with a M&P40C I cannot recommend it. The soft leather just has too much give for an ankle rig with a 30+ oz. pistol.
My next attempt at an ankle rig for the M&P worked out very well; a Desantis Die Hard Ankle Rig. This is form fitted leather holster and wears very securely, The band also has an extension to wear with boots, it is a great product. They also have the model for the Shield.
An ankle rig with a heavy auto may be too much for a woman not used to carrying a pistol. This pistol is going to come in around 25 - 27 ozs. loaded, my M&P comes in just over 31 ozs. Empty weight for the Shield is about 3 ozs. different than the compact.
Cheers,
Sam

I know this is and older post, but I always found the Desantis Apache to be the most comfortable and secure ankle holster, whether for J frame or small auto.

Got a Galco ankle rig for my Shield about a year ago, never could get used to it. It's gathering dust in the dead holster box.

Older post I know but am interested. Whats the feeling about an ankle holster for the m&p shield 9? Is this too big to wear on the ankle?

I say forget the ankle holster. period. get either a iwb or owb holsters. To much lint could jam up your Shield 9 mm. Some of us old disabled farts use to carry ankle holsters decades ago but I didn't care for them much.
