Not meant to ware an ankle holster
Since emperor Cuomo slammed through his gun hater law I have been trying to rethink my carry options. I decided to give a "bug" a try. A back up weapon would allow me the round count I feel comfortable with and still comply with the tyranny of the new law.
I bought a Remora ankle holster for my 9mm Shield. I have 8 other of Alan's holsters and find them very comfortable, safe and a screaming value. Also, worse case, it can be easily converted into a tuck holster.
Today was my first day with my Shield in an ankle rig. I was warned that ankle carry isn't for everyone. I found it cumbersome, awkward and at sometimes painful. I tried to pull the gun from the rig several times throughout the day at my desk. That to will take some getting used to. (I had boot cut jeans on).
Maybe it's my bird legs (skinny but, sexy as hell) or the size of the Shield I don't know but this experiment was a big FAIL on most every level. I will try again and then see if maybe my J frame will fit better before I throw in the towel but I don't hold out much hope.
I don't believe a different holster would make a huge difference but a smaller gun could certainly help. Any other suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

I have really, really tried to like ankle hosters. I have tried out an untold number of holsters and several different guns and I just can't make it work. Apparently, it's just me but it's not my thing.

I also have bird legs and find any ankle rig (I have two) uncomfortable for more than a couple of hours w/my 442 or Colt Cobra. The only comfortable ankle carry is my Keltec P32.

I make it work quite well with my 442 and renegade. A sub pound gun in a really good holster makes all the difference in the world. And mine is not molded so it hides very well under straight leg jeans...

I've been using a cheapo Uncle Mikes or maybe it's a Bulldog. Anyway I think I gave between $15-20 just to try for mt back-up. I wear work boots 95% of the time. After wearing it for a couple weeks I got use to & have no problems now w/comfort...Now I'm using my BG .380 as a back-up & never tried wearing w/anything bigger...

I carry my BUG (Airweight® J frame) in a Galco® Ankle Glove. I don't notice the weight (16.8oz loaded); and the gun remains secure and doesn't move around. Obviously the gun, and the holster; are both quality products. I am very satisfied with this combination!

I HAVE THE RIGS MBLISS57 POSTED, ONE FOR THE MAGNUM J FRAME AND THE OTHER FOR THE MINI GLOCKS....
IVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM....WEARING CHUKHA HEIGTH BOOTS HELPS KEEP THE RIG OFF THE ANKLE BONE.
IF I WERE TO WEAR LOAFER OR DRESS SHOES ID PICK AN AIRWEIGHT AND AN APACHE OR RENEGADE RIG LIKE SIPOWICZ HAS SHOWN.

Not meant to ware an ankle holster
Take a look at the DeSantis Apache. I use it successfully with my 3953TSW; .40 Shield; and Ruger LC9.

No problem carrying a J frame or a C*** D frame in a Renegade, but I do wear it over a sock (and then put another sock over the gun & holster).
