Default Finally got it!

Took 6 weeks and 3 days but my CHL finally arrived in the mail yesterday! Thanks to the mad rush things are taking twice as long and then some here in Texas. Going to carry my PM9 in the real world for the first time today.

Thanks guys! Seems I am running into an annoying problem with carrying the PM9. Well not the PM9 itself but the extra 7 round magazine in my pocket. From time to time the top bullet in the mag has a tendency to spring out. It has happened four times now in the past two days. I think I might try out one of the DeSantis Mag Packers.

Congratulations and may you never have to use it as I have not for 38 years so far. It is best to be prepared but cautious in eveyday life.

You now have a tremendous responsibility and burden keep the tradition of responsible carry holders clean and respectable and law abiding!

That will happen with single stack magazines and not with double stacks. I always carry my reloads in a mag packer. Keeps the hollow points and magazines loaded, doesn't permit lint and other pocket goodies to infiltrate.

Most importantly you magazine will be in the same place with the same bullet orientation should you need a reload. Practice with the at the range they are great.

Congrats! You chose a great carry pistol. My CM9 was my first serious carry pistol. Still running neck and neck with my J-frame as my favorite carry choice.

How are you going to carry it?

A lot of people carry the PM9 in their front pocket. Not my favorite choice because I am crippled and I'm seated most of the time. Too hard to draw when seated. For someone who is spry on their feet, it can work. Always use a holster, though. The most popular choice is the Desantis Nemesis. Personally, I like the Stays-Put Ultra. Just $14.95 shipped. Very comfortable, well made and durable, and it stays put about the best I have seen. It also stays put AIWB behind a good belt - my favorite carry position because it is so easy to draw when seated.

If you like to carry in a belt holster, I know the absolute perfect holster for you! It is the PJ IWB holster. Let me tell you, the PM/CM pistol in this holster in the sweet spot just behind the hip is unbelievably comfortable! I can carry my CM9 in it all day and the only way I can tell if it is there is to reach back there and touch the gun! Believe me. You'll be glad you did!

Now there is a ritual that you must perform. It is the Wally Walk. Once you have your gun broken in at the range (makes a big difference with these tight Kahrs) and you have chosen and practiced with your carry setup, you need to spend some time at Walmart wandering the aisles, getting over the nervousness and getting to where you are comfortable and not overly conscious about it. You don't want to be pulling at your shirt or acting nervous. And don't worry if it prints ever so slightly because, believe me, no one is paying any attention.

Enjoy your right to carry!

Definitely going to get a DeSantis Mag Packer after having the issue all weekend long. I am using a Crossbreed MicroClip and I really like it. I have the SuperTuck for my M&P9c but I am not comfortable to carry it yet in public. I have a Galco pocket holster for my PM9 but I typically have too much junk in my pockets to pocket carry plus I really like the MicroClip. You can hardly tell it's there and it is very comfortable.

Yeah I am still a little nervous walking around with it. My biggest issue is the fact that people have a tendency to stare at me when I am walking around in shorts due to the face that I am fairly heavily tattooed. I guess the advantage is that they are staring at my legs and not my hip.

Jfootin makes a great point. I recieved my CPL a couple of weeks back and it has been soem 20 since I carried my personal weapon. I must say that I was a lot more nervous than I expected. I was at Menards for a good hour and I know I pulled my sweat shirt down 20 times.
Funny this is, the Mrs. was long and when we got home I reached in and pulled out my Shield and she said," I did not know you had that with you" and she is supposed to pay attention to me!
I am getting used to it but it is different. Nice actually. Calming....

These are very nice 44's ,I have the 4.25 barrel. But the 2-3/4" is coming. I am not a lock fan,but these were never made pre-lock. And the fit and action are top shelf and well done! A keeper!

After you carry for a while and become comfortable with it, the next thing to worry about is that you can become too comfortable with it! One must make certain to always remain aware of the fact that you have it there close at hand without constantly checking and touching it. I've been carrying many years and I confess there has been a time or two when my EDC was the LAST thing in my conciousness. That's not good!

My IWB holster never leaves my belt. I remove the gun before I undress at night. There have been a couple of times when I was in a hurry or got distracted during morning dressing and failed to load up! But my brain registered no concern since I can always feel the holster in place. The thought of reaching for my evener and finding an empty holster would probably just about ruin my day or more!!!!

Carrying is a serious business. It's not a magic pil to prevent difficulties. We have to have it at hand, be willing to use it judiciously, and make sure it's concealed at all times. It's no one else's business but yours, and if anyone else finds out that you do have it handy, it ought to come as a BIG surprise to them! Congratulations on being legal to carry now!

Congrats .. Probably a little nervous the first month or so .. No everyone isn't looking at you !!

Learn your state gun law inside out know when and where your able to carry .. Get as much training as you can .. don't get complacent !!

Murphy's Law says the day you leave the weapon at home will be the day you need it !!
