Default Aluminum Speedloaders

I've seen these twice -- once in pics her from a guy with a .44. They look kidn of cool, and I was wondering (a) who makes them and (b) do they have any advantage over an HKS plastic speedloader, which, at $8-11, is pretty attractive? Why do people buy the aluminum? To be... different?

That was in fact all that I needed to know. The big set is pricey. If I took that outdoors to shoot, I'd go blind. : )

Thanks!

They also make them in black and I was toying with the idea of picking up a set to match my model 27. but then I would actually learn how to shoot or look like a fool.....

I got one of the 5 Star speedloaders for j-frames. It
was really good looking, and worked just as good as
the HKS speedloaders. It looked so good, that I gifted it
to a good friend. I will be getting more as finances allow.

I was a confirmed speed loader carrier until I found speed strips.

I could buy 15 HKS speed loaders, @ $10/ea, for the price of one of these. Makes no sense to me . . .

When HKS makes a good speedloader for an eight shot .357 Magnum at $10 each, I'll consider them. Until then the 5 Star speedloaders suit me just fine.

It arrived, and I have to say I'm not impressed. The knob is awkwardly shaped after handling HKS all these years. I think HKS is better. If anyone wants a 5-Star speedloader for a 6-rd .44, PM me.

$149 for a speed loader? Oh my! Safariland's Comp III is only $20 MSRP! Do these things come with someone toload and shoot the gun for you? Inconceivable!

Quite interesting. Could I ask what it was about the speed strips that you found so compelling?

Where did the $149 figure come from? It was $26 or something.

They fit in the pocket better?

5 Star speed loaders work great. I highly recommend them. The range blocks are very convenient. I love watching the 1911 and Glock guys loading their magazines while I just drop my 357 rounds into the range block and then sit the speed loaders on top and get everything loaded and ready without wearing out my thumbs. Then after we shoot, I can have fun watching them pick up all their brass which is scattered out everywhere.
I bought the full range block set (1 range block with 8 357 eight shot speed loaders). It is first rate. I also bought two speed loaders for the 500 Smith & Wesson. Now I am ready for the human zombie apocalypse or the elephant zombie apocalypse. Now that they have the 410 and 45 speed loaders for the Governor, I may have to get a Governor just so I can buy the range block set for it. With 410 speed loaders, I guess I will be ready for the squirrel zombie apocalypse. I wonder if I would be the only guy carrying a Governor for a duty weapon?
