Anyone here only carry revolvers?
Well I have got to a point in my life where I have decided to go to one platform for my carry guns.
I am in my 50's and have been carrying full time since 1981.
After carrying about every brand and every kind of gun I have decided on only carrying double action revolvers.
My three carry guns are all J frame S&W's.
Two are 38's and one in 357 Magnum.
I will keep most of my shooting practice to these three guns and thank God that I reload 38's and 357 mags.
So to the point of my post.
Is there any one else here that have gone to only carrying revolvers?
It might seem backwards to some people but I feel real safe when I have my revolvers on me and I know that they are going to go bang when I pull the trigger.

The only thing not perfect about a revolver is only 5 or 6 rounds. Shot placement is more important than rounds fired. Therefore there is nothing backwards about carrying a revolver. J frame smiths are very straight shooters. I like em!!!
I carry both as the mood suits me. Never feel under-armed with either. Although when I think about my .380, I may be under carrying with that one.

I always carry a S&W M64 for concealment in a 2 inch barrel[heavy]. Been carrying that for over 30 years and not one problem. Sometimes,my 3 or 4 inch security duty m64s I carry in a inpant holsters.

I too have gone back to all revolver for concealed carry.
Been carrying since the mid 1980s, been full circle now: started with a Ruger Speed Six snub, then went on a 20 year tear of high-speed-low-drag semiauto pistols.
The only handguns I currently own are revolvers!
For carry: S&W 66-4 snub
S&W 442-1
Ruger SP101 snub

I carry a 2 1/2" 66ND, in almost 40 years of handgun shooting I've never saw a semi I would trust my life with!

I fired a 9MM SA when I got my permit, but I only carry revolvers. Normally I carry two, a CA 44 Bulldog 2 and 1/2 in barrel, and a S&W 38 Special, stainless steel air weight. I carry speed loaders with them and I figure with two of them I have 10 rounds. That is not as many rounds as a SA has.
I don't like the idea of ever having to clear a malfunction is my reason
and I think I am less likely to have an accidental discharge with a simple revolver. I won't say for sure I will never buy a SA but I am a lot more likely to buy another revolver than the SA. I only own four revolvers.

Yes, it's the easiest thing for me to operate. However, I have flirted with an XDS and a Colt Pocketlite, and if I could just get Hubby to take me to the range I might consider other options. But for now it's the 327 Nightguard.

I'm not quite there yet. 95% of the time I pocket carry this Model 38. However, when I recently really needed a handgun, I grabbed my .40 cal USP.

After 50+ years and seeing countless rounds of factory ammo go through stock semiautos (mostly Glocks and SIGs, but others as well) the only semiautos I have much faith in are good 1911s and BHPs. And I have seen even those choke on very rare occasions. OTOH a good DA revolver (S&W or Ruger) with any care at all will run reliably for a lifetime. Maybe two lifetimes.
They're right up there with a good crescent wrench. I don't care what the hell the Internet chatter says.

When I was researching for a concealed carry gun, I had certain parameters in mind. It had to be dependable, small enough for a pocket, in a caliber used by either the military or police and lots of fun to shoot at the range. It came down to either a 442 or a 642. It just happened that someone at work had a used 442 that they shot once, cleaned and put in a drawer.
I bought it from them, did a detail clean and while I had it apart, did a trigger job with a spring change, got some Pachmayr compact grips and a Laserlyte side mounted laser.
I made a few holsters and now it's my constant companion, either in my pocket or riding on my right hip loaded with 110 grain Federal Hydra-shoks, with a couple of loaded quick strips in my left front pocket.

The only pistol I've ever owned (and I've owned quite a few, some I liked a lot) that never, ever failed was a second-generation Glock G22 which I had to sell for financial reasons. But I went back to nothing but revolvers about fourteen years ago. Down to only two now, a 640 no-dash that's been my EDC for going on thirteen years, and a four-inch 10-5 for HD. The only time I ever knew a revolver to fail to fire it was an ancient .22 break-top we found loaded in a trunk when my first wife's grandmother died. The nasty, corroded cartridges had probably been in it for at least forty years; and at that, only two rounds failed to pop. With good ammo it was fine. Never seen a failure of any kind in a revolver since.

For more than two decades, I've never carried anything but revolvers ... it's just a matter of which revolver. The majority of time now I go with various J-frames, but I will rotate a 242, 696, and 66 or 686 snubbie into the mix.
If I were to carry a semi, the only two I would consider are a Colt New Agent or Springfield XDs, both in .45ACP.

As a rookie in 1968 I learned to shoot w/a revolver and have been carrying one ever since. During my career I had to use my revolver (.38 +P) in the line of duty and it did the job. I recently went back to carrying my Colt Cobra in a pocket holster.
If you want the full story on small carry revolvers get Stephen Camp's book on the J Frame S&W (I forgot the title but a search will find it).

Revolvers
Started as a rookie on a big metro force in 73 with a 6" Smith 38 spl and RN lead bullets.......carried revolvers as a duty gun ( 357 mag, 41 mag, 44 mag) until 88, then trans to the pistol.....have carried, instructed, and worked on all the major brands of auto's.....until my retirement in 08 and still do as a contract instructor.....my EDC is a M-65 3" RB stoked with 125gr. JHP's.....in the colder weather I carry a S&W M-24 3" RB or a M-58 41 mag.....and when I don't want to carry a gun....I carry a M-49 38 spl...I have a bunch of pistols in a bunch of calibers and I carry them occasionally, but I just feel comfortable with the ole wheel gun.

Started with a 36, then a 37, then a 38, then a 49, then a 640 (38), then a 442, then a 340PD and guess what?
I came back to the 640.
Although I hear voices calling from my 351C.

OP, I'm roughly your age and find myself gravitating back to my j frames. I still do carry a 9mm Shield (great pistol btw) most of the time but more and more go to my little snubbie. Below is a pic of my first CCW (model 60 no dash)I bought as a snot nose cadet at the academy back in 1985. Since then, I carried it as an off-duty and back-up weapon. She's a beauty. I also have a 640, 642, 342Ti, and a Ruger SP101 but the model 60 is special.

I carry a J frame (637)in 38 spl. I' 64. She's 35. I bought my oldest daughter a Charter Arms J frame in 38 spl. She liked the handle and the way it felt. I have to admit I talked her out of a 380 semi (Ruger LC380). I bought my youngest daughter a S&W Bodyguard in 38 spl. She loked it too. She's 31. I guess I like revolvers in that caliber. Like father like daughters. Good house guns and they are easily safety checked and cleared. As for the low amount of rounds (5 for all 3), I haven't been in a shoot out yet and I have reloads depending on where I go. Yiogo

Just revolvers here. I carry a S&W Model 686-6 on duty with a S&W Model 37 backup. Off duty, I carry a 3 inch RB S&W Model 13-3 or a 4 inch SB S&W Model 10-5 with the Model 37 again. On rare occasion, I carry just the Model 13-3 or the Model 37 or a Taurus 85SSUL. More rarely, I carry both Model 37 and the 85SSUL. Last time we shot qualification, I was the only 100% shooter. Freaked the Glocksters.
My wife carries a 4 inch Model 681 loaded with Remington .38Spl +P 125 grain SJHPs.

It seems that the older some of us get the more likely that we will carry only revolvers. I like to think we are getting smarter with age! I carry a model 66-1 snub with a crimson trace laser, a model 60 snub with the same laser, a model 38 snub and a model 37 snub, but not all at the same time. I carry the 66 IWB at the appendex carry mode. I carry the models 37 and 38 in the pocket and the model 60 at the ankle.

The revolver gets out more than the semi auto. 442 you can carry wearing just about anything.

I only carry revolvers. My EDC is a snubnose 357 Magnum; BUG(s) are a pair of J frame 38 Specials. When I am in the woods however, I open carry a 4" barrel 41 Remington® Magnum.
I have no use for bottom feeders.

Exclusively Revolver
When I work I carry a 66 2.5", a BUG (64 snubby) and 6 speedloaders.
Around town I stick to the 64 and 2 speedloaders, just love that snubby.

I do have a 1911 Colt that I carry rarely. Mainly just to keep in practice carrying it.
Normally I carry my 3" 66-2, 442 Pro Moon Clip, 2" 15-5 Combat Masterpiece Snub, 315 Night Guard, 310 Night Guard, or my 3" 625. I even pack my LCR 22 some times.
I could probably live with just the 3" 66 and 442. But it is nice to have more options.
I am 61 and have always liked revolvers.

I have a Shield, along with a Sig P220 & a P228 and they sometimes make it to the range along with my 60 no dash. However, they know their place in the gun safe and that's because my 66-1 (2.5") gets to accompany me wherever I go. It is my only carry year around, and a speed strip gets to tag along with us. I made the revolver choice long ago, and see no reason even to consider a change.
My opinion, others may vary................

My F-I-L had a 60 tucked in his cumberbun when he walked my wife down the isle 35 years ago. I have a 49 no dash that is my EDC. but there are days when I get an itch in my brain, and I feel the need for more than a 38 J-frame, then I carry a 1911 or Sig-220. It's not a lot of rounds extra, it's the big holes it makes. I'm looking for a 25-10 or similar in 45LC or ACP. Pay no attention to the LCP in the coat pocket it's lighter then a loaded 1911 mag. I have a Taurus 44 special but I don't have confidence in it, so I haven't put it on in 15 to 20 years. Thanks for letting me ramble on. Ivan

When I get my permit, I will carry my Ruger 38 LCR. That's what I bought it for. Fits very nicely in the pocket.

I only carry Revolvers. Two at a time. All day every day. Most of the time it's 357 Rugers. I also like the 442 S&W.

I have carried revolvers exclusively since obtaining a concealed carry permit, most often a .357 Model 60 although sometimes I pocket carry a 642. FWIW I have never felt "under-gunned"...

In revolvers I carry either a 10-5 snubby, a Taurus 357 snubby or a Taurus/Rossi 44 mag snubby. Or either a full size 1911 or a compact 1911. Mostly a 1911 though!

I've declared 2013 the year of the revolver. When off duty, it's strictly a Mod. 60 with CT laser grips.

I tried for a year. It required a huge amount of remedial training in order to achieve half my skill with a semi-automatic pistol. I found that a five inch barrel makes a huge difference. I really like the eight shot 357 N-Frames. The 3 1/2" Model 27 was quite a bit more difficult to shoot. Rapid fire is still difficult to do and I'm not anywhere near as fast with a revolver. I think if I attend several classes with revolver instructors and put a few thousand rounds through a gun, I may be able to get where I want to be. Until then, I only use a revolver for backup.

alright, time to throw in pics of my three carry revolvers:
my newest one:
my favorite for in the house or winter carry:
and for when the scrutiny of huggy women and dinner parties make it hard to conceal with confidence:
and finally, for snowshoeing trips or hiking in the back country: 44 special Vaquero

I have six handguns. Three are bottom feeders: a Ruger LC9, a Czech VZ-82, a Bersa Thunder .380. Three are revolvers: a Taurus Model 85, a Smith Model 640 Pro Series, and a NAA Mini .22wmr.
I like my bottom feeders, but I don't regularly carry them. In fact, they're all in the gun safe. I carry the Smith and the NAA on a daily basis, and keep the Taurus in the truck. I prefer the reliability of a revolver, and have no issues with only five rounds cuz those five are for sure. I really don't like having to jack with guns all that much, so revolvers are the logical choice for me because I don't need to do bi-weekly maintenance on them. I keep the automatics on hand because I have a lot of ammo for them, and if I run out of revolver ammo then I can shift over to the bottom feeders. Also, they're handy for renewing my TX CHL, since they do make the 15 yard qualification requirement easier to attain, and if I qualify on the automatic I can still legally carry my revolvers.
And if nothing else, I just like revolvers better that automatics. I do not have to second guess them, and I think they are sexy as all get out.

I sold all my semi-autos except for a S&W 22S I've had for years. All I have now in centerfire is revolvers. I switch carrying between a 2.25" Ruger SP101 and a S&W Model 60 Pro. I just picked up a new 3" 686 last weekend. Once I run enough rounds through it to make sure it's dependable I'll rotate it into my carrying.
I have the Ruger SP101, the Model 60 Pro, the new 686, 4" Ruger GP100 and a 4" Smith Model 64. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep the Model 60 Pro or sell it off and try to find a 66 snub.

After starting in LE back in 1975 I only carried revolvers then 1911s, custom 1911s that worked 100%. Even now off duty I still carry a revolver. A S&W Original Run F-COMP. Best darn revolver I ever owned. A 442 will sometimes get thrown in a pocket for a quick run.
