Default Ankle holsters

Hey everyone, I've narrowed my search for an ankle holster down to two and was hoping for some input. I'll be carrying a M37 and want a holster with a retention strap. The hammer is the deciding factor. I like both the Galco Ankle Glove and the Bianchi Model 150 Negotiator.

I know Galco has a hammer/retention strap model, but I'm not sure about the Bianchi holster. The only picture I've seen shows the strap right over the hammer area.

Galco:

It looks like both of those have an ankle band which is made of or at least partially made of elastic. Good deal. I had an Uncle Mikes ankle holster which had a velcro-fastened nylon band, and even with only a lightweight pistol like an LCP the only way to keep it from flopping around when I walked was to cinch it uncomfortably tight.
Interestingly the photo of the Galco holster looks like it was made for a Centennial but it has a Chief in it. And the Bianchi looks like it was made for a Chief but it has a Centennial in it. So I guess either gun fits in either holster?

Look at the Renegade. I got one on Sip's recommendation and have been wearing it close to 40hrs a week going on two years and it's been great. It's comfortable, has good retention, and conceals well. Reasonable priced, too. Here's a link - Renegade 500

I have a Galco for a Beretta Tomcat 32 and a Bianchi for a Colt Agent and love them both. I gave a Galco to my brother for his 37 and he loves it. I always pocket carry a 49 and in cold weather the LCP is over my heart. The ankle option is good when in a suite or dress pants, but not so good for shorts! Ivan

The Bianchi pictured is made for a hammerless, I'm sure you can get it for a hammer model, same as the Galco...but the Galco shown also looks like it might be for a different model since the thumb snap is not over the hammer (possibly for a hammerless also)...the Galco gets high marks from everyone who uses it so you can't go wrong with one...just make sure you get the right model for your gun...if you go with the Renegade, it won't matter as they use a retention strap over the trigger guard so hammered or hammerless use the same rig....and it is a pull thru design so you don't have to unsnap it...

I carried a baby Glock in a Galco at least five days per week for over ten years, and the Galco is still serviceable, although the Velcro on the ankle band is getting a little worn.

I'm due for a new one after 10 years...thinking of trying the Galco but I have a question....is the neoprene hot in summer?...the Renegade is just elastic and although the lamb's wool makes me sweat a little, the elastic isn't too bad. Also, do you Galco guys have the open top or the thumb snap? If you have the open top, how secure is it?

BTW, I found one on ebay and this is the description...seems weird...wouldn't a j-frame fit loose in a molded holster that fits a Bulldog .44 or DS?

FITS FOLLOWING REVOLVERS:

Taurus 85 2in, Colt Detective Special 2in, Colt Agent Revolver, Colt Cobra, Smith & Wesson New Bodyguard .38, Ruger SP101 2-1/4in, Charter Arms Bulldog Pug .44 2-1/2in, Ruger LCR .38, Taurus .327 2in, Taurus 605 2in, Taurus 85 Titanium 2in, Taurus 85CH 2in, Taurus 94 2in

Sip ... That product description makes no sense, as the listed firearms vary in sizes. The "New Bodyguard" is not the same frame dimension as a Ruger SP101 2-1/4" or CA Bulldog Pug 2-1/2". No way, no how.

Also, standard neoprene does not breathe. That's suffocating wetsuit material. The Renegade you recommended to me way back is the best ankle rig I've found thus far.

I just ordered a Ritchie Gunleather ankle rig for my Sig P239. I've heard great things and hope it works out.
