Default UT resident permit, AZ carry question.

Now, I know I can carry in AZ I have seen the maps and yada yada. I will set up my question with a story.
In the summer of 2011 my wife and I, along with a group of friends hiked into Havasupai (for those of you who don't know what this place is, it is amazing! and you should google it). It was a blast! I don't remember honestly if I had my handgun or not? I did have my permit at the time. Anywho, I know I can carry in AZ but the trail and campsites are on a Native American Reservation that blends into a National Park. So if I were to carry conceal I would be in the wrong, correct? Also, could I carry anything? Could I take my gun at all? I can't find anything from the Reservation online. I am going to go again in a couple weeks with a Church group so I just wanted to find out. I don't enjoy camping w/o some form of a firearm, even if there are no scary critters at the bottom of the Grand Canyon there are people I don't know.
Any help or leads are much appreciated! I tried to email a few people and have received no response.

I lived in Arizona for 8 years and moved to Georgia in 2005. At that time you could not have a gun on your person or in your vehicle unless you were just passing through. You could not CC.

Indian Reservations generally don't allow carrying firearms unless, as tlay pointed out, you're passing through, which means driving. The BIA and Tribal Police do not recognize/accept concealed weapon permits or police ID from any non-Indian jurisdiction. (Some friends of mine found that out the hard way a while back...)
