Just got this baby, last night, for my M&P Shield 9. $34.98 on their website: MDJ Store Home Page

This is a fantastic holster at a great price. Comfortable from the beginning. The leather breaks in quickly. The high amount of definition in the molding makes for some serious retention... Even as high as I am wearing it, in the last picture. I have since then dropped it down one position. Drawing and re-holstering is a breeze.

There is the fixed retention... the model I got or the adjustable retention for $7 more.

There are four height settings, from as high as this, to super low.

Good looking holster.

Looks like it has the "combat cut"

Much less $$$ than my Crossbreed.

I've made many of these myself. The leather I use is horsehide, the kydex you can actually get for free and the clips cost $2 each.

Form the kydex by heating it and pressing foam over the kydex laying on your gun.

Give it a try, it's an enjoyable way to spend an hour.

Thanks for the heads up on these holsters.
I had a Crossbreed paid for but went with this instead. I am now waiting on my refund and an MDJ holster.

I bought one of these MDJ holsters. after a few months the plastic cracked and I was told that it cost 20 dollars to repair it. Not too happy with this product.

Got a Garrett Industries lined holster the GX for my new 40c and it is very nice .. adjustable tensioning, and very comfortable, will order another soon.

Many times, the price difference between many of these Hybrid holster makers is due to the quality of the material. This could be due to:

• The type of leather (cow vs horse),
• The thickness of the leather (sometimes hearing 'it took no time to shape to my body' as 'the leather isn't as thick'),
• The thickness (or quality) of the Kydex (it should take YEARS for the Kydex to crack... Even if reshaped several times)

Sounds like maxheadroom's holster was mad with thinner/inferior Kydex.
If the Kydex cracked after only a few Months... I'd be annoyed too.

As another example: While the Kydex on my cheap Kholster 'Little Moon' is as thick as my CBST, the leather of my CBST Stays shaped to my body when taken off, where the leather of my 'Little Moon' is pliable and flattens out.
Kholster seemed to use a 'cheaper cut' of leather... But since it's comfortable to wear, that difference in material doesn't matter to me.

Sometimes one needs to ask themselves WHY is [Fill-In-The-Blank] company's product so much less than 'that other company's'... and when buying online, many times you don't find out until after you've bought it.


I've always been happy with CrossBreed's holsters... And I don't even 'order' them fresh made for me. I buy them pre-made from their Factory Seconds site (for almost half price), so there's no waiting. Crossbreed Holsters - Second Hand Holsters
