Suggestions for loosening up a leather holster
I am considering buying one of these New Tagua IPH4 4 in 1 inside the pants holsters. Has anyone bought one yet? You can use it for multiple carries and it can also be bought with a thumb snap. I am wanting to give one a try with my SR9C. This is what it looks like and you can copy and paste a link to see the holster with the thumb snap. I have 2 Tagua holsters and they make a fine product. I have a major problem with buying anything from China but Paraquay I can live with. The craftsmanship is excellent. I just sent a Bulldog Case holster back because when I got it, it had made in China all over it. Amazon took it back and paid the shipping and did not argue the point. This is the holster, what do you think? This one would be for my M&P 9C. </title> <meta charset="utf-8"> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1"> <meta property="og:image" content="http://www.taguagunleather.com/new/img/tagua.png"/> <title>TAGUA GUNLEATHER
I got my 4 in 1 in for my SR9C and it is beautiful, going to get one for the Taurus if they have the size and the M&P 9C. Now I have a question. The holster is too snug, very well made but too snug. I used my old trick of putting the gun in 2 thick ziplock bags and then working it into the holster by moving it back and forth, rotating side to side, obviously it did not move much, not suppose to. I left it in there over night and still too tight for a quick draw. Anybody got any ideas on holster sizing, any tricks? I am open.

Wrap it in wax paper, wax side out. Work the gun in and out a half dozen times. The put it back in the holster for 24 hours. Works every time.

That is so naughty. I just about snorted a mouthful of hot tea all over my keyboard.

I tried that and she still wouldn't loosen up, but I rolled her in wax paper and crammed it back and forth in the holster and twisted side to side and it is getting there. Good Lord what a reply.

Spray the inside of the holster with Silicone Spray. With use it will stretch a bit. In my opinion you can't beat Tagua.

Every day for a month stuff it with grass and grain. Do this until it grows. WAIT that is for live cows, never mind.

Sounds like S&W45Colt's method is working.
Another method, which is a bit faster if you already have the stuff, is Mitch Rosen's Leather Lightning, which he sells for several thousand dollars a gallon. Fortunately, he sells it in a tiny bottle which used to cost ten dollars, and lasts a long time because you don't have to use very much. I think he tells you how many holsters it will treat, but it treats more than that. I don't yet know how many more - I'm still on my first bottle. One or two applications to the actual problem location inside the holster will forever solve your problems without softening the holster. Maybe S&W45Colt's method does the same thing.
Actually, I haven't fully tested the "forever" yet.
