Default CCW thwarts another crime

Customer with weapon defends himself and others , possibly saving lives.
The robber likely figured a Dollar General in the boondocks (Orrville is a rural suburb of Selma Alabama) as easy pickings , he turned out to be dead - pun intended - wrong .
Man tries robbing dollar store in Orrville, fatally shot by customer - Daily Journal

These stories keep building up in the news but the anti gun advocates wont change their mind even if it was their life that might've been saved.

No comments on the story posted so far....

Sounds like a licensed permit holder may have saved many lives by protecting himself and others using a legally carried weapon.

Can't wait to see the story highlighted on the major networks, maybe even by the New York Times!

Hope your not holding your breath.

Interesting that the guy had enough cool to only fire one round. I know a double tap is a recommended deal and many would be so keyed up they would empty the guy.

When you get herded into the back room there is very little up side to that. I'll bet those folks were relieved.

When my Ex was hired by the county sheriff's department, she was trained to empty all 17 rounds if she pulled the trigger.

Here's a link to a site with hundreds of examples of CCW/ private citizens responding to criminals with firearms- very useful when the idiots say nobody ever stops crime with a gun.

The sign said that open carry of handguns wasn't allowed in the store. The customer that shot the gunman was carrying concealed.

Well there's proof the "No Guns" signs work. The bad guy concealed his gun before bringing it in the store.

It didn't sound like a robbery so the likely outcome of that deal would not have been too good for those folks in the store.

Either your Ex got it wrong, or her trainer didn't know his job. LEOs are trained to fire as many rounds as necessary to end the threat, and no more. No credible LE Firearms Instructor would train officers to expend a full magazine, unless doing so was justifed by a continued imminent threat.

Default Outstanding!

We don't hear enough stories like this one. The press in America sickens me with their anti gun agenda.

Exactly right. Only I'd say that no credible firearms instructor would teach that. Not civilian, LE or military. It's a stupid thing to say and even less useful in practice.

First, it empties your gun. What do you do if another threat presents itself? Second, it opens the shooter to potential excessive force issues. Third, if you're just hammering away with your gun, are you sure of where every round is going? You need to be.

Default Huh!

Sure hope she has left that department and signed on with a PROFESSIONAL law enforcement entity. If not, she best have a copy of that training directive.

Be safe.

Trained to empty the gun every time, I've got to say I've never heard of a training regimen like that. I hope that jurisdiction has deep pockets.
