Default Everyday tucking

I don't want to have a box of unsatisfactory holsters and I don't want to waste money.

I'm still looking for a IWB, quick-on/off holster. I'm leaning toward the DeSantis Sof-Tuck. Not expensive but...

I'm wondering who wears IWB - AND - tucks everyday?

Are you wearing a single or double hook/loop design? Is it a Hybrid?

I have avoided tucking as it was just awkward to tuck and I couldn't get it to look as concealed as I think it should.

No problem with the AlienGear Hybrid IWB wearing an outer shirt with the tail out - love the comfort ... but as the weather improves I know I am going to want to tuck and want it to be simple and to work.

Suggestions - fire away (no pun intended )?

Kholster Concealed Carry Holsters - Made in the USA<br /> I use this regularly for a tuckable IWB. Very comfortable.

I have also used Home . Not quite as comfortable as Kholster, but had the holster available for make & model

I have not personally tried CrossBreedŽ Holsters but others have told me they like 'em as tuckable IWBs.

I use Ace Case IWB holsters made of soft glove-leather for my 2" j-frames & for my Sig 938. Very comfortable for appendix carry. They make a tuckable version but mine is not.

I think now they are all tuckable. I'm wearing a Galco King Tuck and also have a crossbreed. Both are double hook. I like double hooks better. It spreads the weight

hotrod150 - thanks for the tip on Ace Case. I hadn't seen them but have added them to my list. Might be a good choice.

Arik - If you are referring to the mfgs yes almost all make some form of Tuckable. I have and love the AlienGear Hybrid (much like the Galco king tuck, Crossbreed and others) but that is the one I have difficulty with tucking. It could just be my inexperience as as Summer I'll learn more.

Why tuck at all. Warmer weather just seems to call for untucked shirts. I wear OWB and just let the shirt tails cover the gun. Polos or button type shirts will work.

I tuck IWB about 80% of the time.

Remora holster is by far the best. Galco and Active Pro Gear j-hook holsters also work well.

The prime benefit of the Remora is that it is absolutely invisible when properly worn.

I carry a 60,NY-1 or 642.

Be safe.

Based on my experience with Old Faithful and Crossbreed, I don't think any one "tuckable" holster will be much easier to tuck than another.

I see no reason to abandon your Alien Gear if you like it now.

Check out Rubicon Tactical. His website is under construction, but he has an eBay store he works through and will customize to your liking. Very reasonable prices. I paid $34.50 and received it in 4 days. Comfortable so far. Very light weight kydex and very concealable with a single clip. I carry a Shield 9 by the way.

It is just a "sometimes" dress code for me. I don't always like my shirt out.

The Big D - Remora is a single hook design which is what I think might make it a bit simplier.

Rastoff - I don't plan to get rid of my AG...I really like it. But that being said, it is a little difficult to tuck. Like I said - might be just my inexperience and summer T-shirts may be easier too.

I have a couple more to look at before making a decision.

Tucking gets easier with practice. I zip my pants, but leave my pants unbuttoned when I start tucking in the shirt order to partially support the weight of the gun and holster until completely tucked, then button up and fasten the belt. Next I blouse the shirt at the belt line to help hide the clips.

Another option for hiding the clips, if they bother you, is to use clips with velcro on them and hook them on behind the belt so they are not seen or to use a j-hook so only a small portion is shown on the belt.

Only problem with j-hooks is they put the gun's weight on the pants instead of the belt where it belongs. Not as significant with carrying something like a shield, but get up beyond say 25 ounces loaded, it may drag down the pants waistline some.

For me it works better if I wear shirts which do not have horizontal lines or blocks on them. If I have to re-tuck away from the house it's difficult to get those lines to look right without the help of a mirror, so I tend to choose more solid colored shirts when tucking.

Thanks, B3500. That is the kind of reply I've been looking for.

I don't mind the hooks being visible. And the location of the hooks relative to belt-loops on jeans may affect how the jeans carry the weight.

Someone on this or the FirearmsTalk.com forum mentioned the hooks just scream "Packing". I suspect that is because we are well aware of what 2 hooks usually mean when over a heavy leather belt. I don't think the average person would have a clue.

We could tell them we wear steel underware and its heavy

Thanks for your post.

I just checked that Remora link. That is a holster I wouldn't use. It seems completely pointless to me. Why not just carry "Mexican" style?

I have found that the Crossbreed Holster is the most comfortable IWB I have ever worn. I can carry the Glock 19, 26, and 36 in it and feel good about it. If fact my crossbreed IWB and Glock sport/combat holster OWB are the only two I use.

Default You need to get out more.

Seriously, you apparently have no concept of the Remora. Cheers.

I've got an Old faithful and a KingTuk that I wear untucked with a cover garment over them. I find that there is no way I can draw a tucked pistol with any amount of speed. The bad guys would have to give me 24 hours notice.

You are so right. I was thinking of the N8˛ model - and it is tuckable.

I've look at way too many holsters over the last few months.

Remoras are great. They stay where you put them. My Remora stable ranges from J-frames to HK45.

I tried for a long time to tuck my G19 using many different holsters and I just couldn't make it work. So, I changed my wardrobe and wear everything untucked now. There are a lot of nice dressier button front short sleeve shirts that have a finished hem and look great untucked with khakis.

I have a Desantis tuck able holster

It has replaced my Galco IWB

I really like that the clip attaches at the bottom of the holster so I can actually tuck the shirt between the holster and belt. Just blouse out, and go.

My only complaint is it rides a little high but I like it

1 o'clock position. Easy to carry, drive, etc

Sounds like what I'm looking for. If you draw a line through the belt-clip you can see how high it would ride. Perhaps one could make a hook extension - just a small piece with 2 holes in it - one for the attachment to the holster and one to attach the hook.

Might be a concern for me too.

Is yours the DeSantis Sof-Tuck like this style:

Here are pictures of the Rubicon Tactical. I requested an extra hole be drilled in the clip so I could adjust the ride height. The fit and finish is awesome. Look him up if you get a chance. Sounds like this May be what your looking for.

Hey, Big D - it just dawned on me - do you tuck when wearing the Remora?

Is that just placing the holster with the gun at your waist then pull your pants/shirt over it?

Can you pull your shirt out of the way and draw your gun without pulling out your Remora too?

Seems like it could be done but maybe risky.

Is yours the DeSantis Sof-Tuck like this style:

Yes, but mine is for a snub nose

On the holster it has "106 02" on the side

I have carried it now for about 5 weeks. Still hasn't conformed to the firearm as well as I would like (the old Galco fits the pistol great) but I hope it will conform better with time.

Default Yes, tuck.

Yes, always tuck with the Remora. Given its 'stickiness,' I place it in position (3:30-ish) and then button/zip/belt my trousers or shorts.

Yes, you can draw easily. The holster will not move.

Try one; suspect you will like it.

Be safe.

I just got a Nigh Noon Split Decision for my Shield and hate it. It's the most uncomfortable holster I've ever worn. I carry at 3:30-4:00 and the High Noon is just too much bulk in one area. I think I'm going to sell it.

I've had huge success with dual clip IWB hybrid holsters or even dual clip leather holsters all of which are tuckable and are tucked by me. I have a White Hat hybrid, a Tommy Theis hybrid and an RKBA leather dual clip that are all super comfortable and can be worn by me all day. No doubt the dual clip and large leather backing spreads out the weight and bulk.
