Default Louisiana trying to pass this law

IMO, this is a very dumb idea. Im all for for guns, dont get me wrong. But i feel the current laws we have now are working just fine for BATF items.

They are wanting to make it so Lifetime CC permit holders can possess a SBR and/or SBS without a tax stamp and without registering said weapon with the ATF. Thus it simply bypasses the FFA of 1934.

I'm not sure what you're objecting to.

In my opinion, anything which would allow a law abiding citizen to legally bypass the FFA of 1934 sounds OK to me.

I will go on record as stating that I'm green with envy over the concept of a lifetime concealed handgun permit!!

First, state laws cannot preempt federal statutes so what is the point?

Second, why not? The National Firearms Act enacted in 1934 was for the most part arbitrary. It banned possession by the public of several types of firearms which had been quite common with little or no justification other than infrequently some of them had been used criminally, and only infrequently. It is exactly the same as recent laws prohibiting "assault rifles" which are arbitrarily determined by no more than cosmetic, and often impractical, features.

What possible reason can you cite for why any citizen, who has proved himself to be trustworthy and law-abiding, should be denied the lawful use of any type firearm? You have apparently bought into the liberal political BS that engenders these types of legislation in the first place.

The NFA should be repealed (not likely!) and the criminal use of all firearms rigorously prosecuted, and meaningful sentences imposed for such.

I just think there are other more useful laws that they should try to pass. For instance, it would be nice to have valid CC permit holders and walk into the LGS and walk out with a weapon and not have to do the background ****. I know there are already some States that have this law in affect.

Also with said law trying to be passed above. This will likely not allow SBR to cross state lines. So if im going to my camp, in which i have to pass through mississippi. I would not be allowed to bring my SBR with me to my camp. In this case, its easier to pay a $200 tax stamp and notify the ATF when i plan on going to my camp.

I just think there is too much BS that would come with all of this. More hassle than what its worth.

And if u are going to pass a law like this. Why not just let us own any BATF item we want. Why just limit it to SBR and SBS?

That's my question, why not?

The FFA of 1934 and the GCA of 1968 are both illegal laws. They both violate the second amendment and should not have ever been allowed to be passed. So, ignoring these laws is not really preempting federal law because the law is illegal in the first place.

What gets me is if my single shot .410 was a half inch shorter, it would be a felony, yet a Taurus Judge is OK. That FFA of 1934 is a stupid law.
