Default holster for my active wife...bought her a shield today

i bought my wife a shield(9mm) today...cleaned and fired 200 rounds already...nice gun...she shoots it well even for shooting in the rain.

anyway, she does a lot of jogging in the summer. there is a bike trail that runs behind our house ans she likes jogging on that....by herself. that is something that neither of us have been been crazy about...hence the shield...

what's a good holster for her to use when jogging? think somewhat tight fitting shorts and a loose shirt/tank top...any one with any experience have any ideas of what does and does not work?

i'm hoping some of the female members will chime in with what they use, but if not, i know there have to be members with wives that are carry while running...

thanks in advance...

I don't jog, but have your wife look at this link. There are some options to try.

My Wife likes her Remora. She got one after watching this review done by an active female reviewer.
Remora No-Clip IWB Holster - review & demo

I have the Pocket version for my Shield.

There are several belly-band offerings if that suffice. If nothing above is satisfactory, here's more:

A good belly band is a good option. I've used one when I used to run. Keep it simple but sturdy and carry only the pistol, a spare mag, and permit. There's a company that makes concealed carry jogging holsters that attach around the waist and suspend the gun in front, but I can't think of the name at the moment. I've also used fanny packs, but theyre not always that comfortable. They're sometimes hard in the lower back, and the zippers can work themselves open while running. Kramer and 5.11 make holster undershirts. I have a 5.11 version, but never tried to run with it.

As the girl in the video says, you can jog with it, exercise with it, hide it under a bathing suit.
The tighter the pants/shorts, the better it stays in place. This goes against the rule of thumb for other holsters, where one needs to go a size larger to carry, but it works.

The owner of 'Sticky Holster' used to be part of Remora. Their video shows a girl doing jumping jacks and it not moving an inch.

At $25 (after discount) with a free mag holster, even if she ends up NOT liking it, you're not out very much.

I have decided (subject to change) a Kangaroo Carry holster for my J frame will work for me, and would love to here your take on it after looking at their website. kangaroocarry.com is the website. The only reason I have not ordered yet is discretionary cash needs a boost first.

Ive had my shield over a yr now and so far have tried 4 holsters. One a remora which my wife actually likes as it requires no hooks etc for retention and she can wear it in the small of her back. I like it in a pocket but finally found a comfy owb all leather hand made one recently at a gun show that has become my daily rig.

kangaroocarry...i think i have looked at those before and think it may be a little hard to get to the gun...much like the full shirt ones on the other sites...but it seems as though that may fit the bill as i want to be sure the nothing is lost along the way...we're kinda getting a little picky...looking for "perfection" on the first try...

i am liking the trump card from pistol wear that wittmeba posted...so many options...h

as anyone actually tried running while carrying? if so what worked, what didn't?

Know what you mean there, except 2nd for me. I bought a Bianchi 9R with my 640 38spl 21 years ago and I'd say it's not even broken in. Love to sell it, need to post it soon. But anyway, 95% of the time summer and winter I wear button down shirts so I still think Kangaroo Carry will work for me. Check out the videos on their site, seemed to answer a lot of questions for me (that guy is a good salesman!). John

I've run short distances carrying my J Frame in a Blackhawk OWB speed classic holster. No issues BUT, I am NOT a jogger or runner of any sort, I only run in an emergency to get to a critter in distress or to catch one for some reason. :-)

i run to the fridge for more food...lol...
in typical woman style( i do really love my wife by the way), she has not made up her mind yet...even i have gotten tired of looking at holsters i have told her when she finds one...order it...as long as it is not gold laced and i need to sell a lung and my kidneys to pay for it, i don't care...lol...i expect a purchase to be anytime from now until............never...lol

in the mean time...i am seriously considering a shield for my self and retiring the 40c to the nightstand...

she's already nixed ones like that...as that was my first suggestion...she's afraid it would flop around too much and like you said, not work with a sports bra...

i liked the idea though, but then again, i don't wear a bra so...

Speedy, have your wife look closer at the Marilyn. I've seen reviews online by women who said it was good with a sports bra.

after a little over a month, my wife FINALLY chose what to get. she picked these... Women's Concealment Short Shorts by UnderTech UnderCover

so far she has only run on the treadmill with them on because of the weather..but says the gun don't move, she can draw easily, and she can't even tell the shield is there. i'm hoping she made a good choice!

Oh, that looks like an excellent answer. Let us know how long they last after being washed repeatedly.

well, she has worn this 3 or 4 times now. the shorts will still be worn, but without the shield, the weight of the gun pulls the shorts down. it wasn't too bad the first time, a little worse the second time, and unusable with the gun in after...the search continues...

I use this little desantis when I run my 4-6 miles every night. I tie my drawsting down good and tight and then slip it in. It never moves. I do the same thing for bike rides.
I am not sure how it would hold on ladies running shorts, but it was pretty inexpensive.

If wearing non-belted type of shorts or pants, like gym shorts for gym pants, I would stay away from any holster that even looks like it depends on being belted on, to include remoras and sticky holsters. Taking a decent jolt while running just might dislodge it.

I would never use such a holster when riding a mountain bike on the trails, so I have landed on using a fanny pack when I ride and it works fine for me, but I suspect it would not be held tight enough to the body for the steady bounce while jogging.

For jogging I'd be looking at something with it's own band to hold it in place against the body and also covered/strapped to keep the firearm in place.

I'd second taking a closer look at pistolwear.com to see if one of the PT 1 or 2 series might meet the needs of your jogger.

With a safety on the Shield, this should be quite secure in the soft material. If the piece did not have a safety, I might be tempted to put a trigger guard type of "mic" holster on it connected to the holster with a piece of paracord so the mic could be ripped away when drawing the firearm.

for some reason the mention of drawstring would have my family searching local caves for my remains...i think she had a bad experience in school with drawstrings...lol...but something like that was my first thought...only with a belt...which i was informed does not work well when running...

honestly, i didn't expect the ones we bought her to work very well...but i have a few extra hosters for some reason so i thought i'd let her understand why i have a few extra holsters...

i'm not sure why or how i have not seen that pistolwear holster before...but i like the idea of it...i think she will too...
