M&P Shield Pocket Carry
Anyone with much experience that can give some perspective on the viability of pocket carrying a Shield? Looking for a secondary and a second primary when carrying my 92fs isn't possible. Thanks for any help.

There's no way I could pocket carry my shield 40. Maybe in the back pocket. I have a remora holster which isn't too big, but there's no I personally could get it into a front pocket.
good luck!!!

The Shield is still a little too bulky for pocket carry unless you are using cargo pants, I carry my Shield 40 in a Minotaur IWB MTAC holster at about 4:00!

Same here. No way my Shield 9 would fit in the front pocket of my jeans. Back, yes, but that would be most uncomfortable.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was figured that would be the response, but thought I would ask. I don't really want a mouse gun type of thing because I may want to carry whatever I end up getting IWB sometimes, too. I have heard such good things about the Shield that I'll probably wind up getting it just as a second primary. Maybe then I can use the excuse of still needing something more pocket sized to get a good old Model 642 or the like.

Actually, I CAN Front Pocket Carry my Shield have have been doing so for the last two years.
Being able to pocket carry does rely on a few actors.
The angle (and Length) of the Slash pocket, the 'Fit' of the jeans/slacks and (of course) one's body style.
A good test to see if pants are good for pocket carry is to put your hand in your pocket and make a fist. If you can't withdraw your fist, those pants obviously won't work for pocket carry. For example... Old Navy jeans offer a nice Diagonal Slash pocket, but the Length of the slash is too short to easily withdraw a fist.
I wear Wrangler 'Relaxed Fit' jeans. they have a rather long, Diagonal opening for a Slash pocket (optimal for me to draw anyway) and the 'Relaxed Fit' offers more room through the thighs. If 'Relaxed Fit' doesn't offer enough thigh room, one may need to move up to 'Loose Fit'.
Wrangler also has a nice Cargo style pants that offers a good Diagonal Slash on the front pocket and 'roomy' (not to be confused with baggy) legs.
For Dressier slacks, some Dockers work well. As mentioned, You simply need to be aware of the angle and length of the slash pocket.
While a Remora pocket holster is nice, it's rather thick. I prefer the Galco Pocket Protector series for pocket carry. It's made of a nice Leather that keeps any body moisture from the pistol's metal, but is much thinner than the Remora.
When I go pants shopping, my Shield naturally comes along and if one style of pants doesn't allow me to 'present' easily, I check out another style of pants.

I have a Shield 9 and unless I'm wearing slacks or cargo shorts pocket carry is out of the question.

I couldn't carry the shield in my pocket either. Would be too uncomfortable. I carry it IWB and all but forget it's there.

I would expect it is feasible if you dress around the gun, which is non-negotiable. (The only reason to choose otherwise is of course dress code/safety clothes for employment.) I haven't worn jeans in several years, so that is solved. I'm either in a suit or cargo pants/shorts, and have had no problem carrying a G33 (which I think is bigger/bulkier than a Shield). A good holster is not optional. I use a Kramer Leather pocket holster most; don't recall what the one for my J frames is (came with one of them I think), and can even carry my 296 using the Mika holster.

I wear Levi's and my Shield is in a pocket Holster in my front right pocket all the time I am out of my house. It is awkward to draw sitting in the car but not bad sittng most other places. Standing draws took a little practice and now its easy.

I took the plunge yesterday and bought a Shield. It's a perfect little carry gun that fits fine in my pocket. In an IWB, it's like it's not there. I was also able to get to the range after cleaning her up, and she functioned perfectly. I love this gun.

Make sure you use a good pocket holster, for a lot of reasons.
