Default Galco Vertical Shoulder Holster

Anyone have experience with a galco vertical shoulder rig for a 4 inch k frame? I would like one for carry around the farm, and concealed carry under a flannel. They appear that they would fit my needs pretty well since a lot of farming activities that I am involved in don't work well with iwb or owb. The butt of the gun catches on the tractor seat and various other things. I think that a shirt holding the shoulder rig near the body would be very beneficial.

What are yall's experiences with them and anyone got pics of one in use?

I have a Galco Miami Classic II. It holds the gun well, doesn't get in the way, doesn't drag my shoulders down (carrying a 4 in. 1911), seems to balance well, hides well under a loose fitting denim vest and doesn't climb up my neck. I would however recommend you get and use the straps that tie it to your belt. They really are worth the extra $25. Now, having said all that, I don't have a very active life style. The last several years I've worked in retail and have been completely retired for two. I think what I said will apply to your more active life though.

The only caution I would give is stay away from the rigs that rely on elastic. The one I had made my shoulders feel like they were rubbing together after a couple hours.

You might also want to look at the rig from Lobo Gun Leather. I got my Galco before I found his site.

I realized that I should have put this in the holster section. Can an administrator move it?

I have an old Galco Explorer (discontinued), and it seems fine, with the use of tie downs (to the belt). Optics Planet has the Galco components (vertical holster, harness, and tie-downs) but I don't see an option for a complete rig, just the parts and pieces. But, yes, get it off of your belt line if you keep snagging on stuff... you may end up with an empty holster and an big field to search if you don't...

I have one of the vertical Galco holsters for my 1911, and can't understand why they never incorporated a holster tie down to help stabilize the rig and allow for a smooth one hand draw. I might suggest a chest holster, or the tanker style for outdoors carry. While these styles are less concealable, they are both secure and easily accessible.
