Senate Bill 708, which would create the "Homeland Security Unrestricted Concealed Handgun Permit," would create a new class of cc that would allow cc in all the places that police are allowed to carry.
House Bill 562, which would eliminate a requirement that those seeking to buy a handgun secure a "pistol purchase permit" from their county sheriff.
In a time when it seems that more are against the 2nd than ever, it's good to see some representatives stand up for it. Where these bills go is another story and remains to be seen.
Like the Romans before us, we have a proud tradition of a warrior society. The expansions of the 19th century helped make this country into the power it is today. Manifest destiny. I hate to see bleeding hearts try to change the very fabric of this society by going against the 2nd. Be proud of your people and your country!

Both these bills are a lot more complicated than the way they're being reported on in the media, especially 708.
If you're interested, you can read the full text of S708 here.
Right now, I'm having a hard time imagining North Carolina's governor signing either of these bills into law the way they're currently written/proposed.

Instead of starting a "class war" among CHL holders, why not just allow those of us who already have one to carry more places?
And of course, if you have an NC CHL you don't need a purchase permission slip.
Regarding those, you know as well as I that the Sheriffs here in NC are NOT going to let go of that $5 a pop for handgun purchase permits...they tried that already with HB 937 but it was stripped out of the bill that was signed into law.
I also don't think these bills will pass...

This sounds good but, will it pass? Hopefully it will. I would also like to see a bill that would disallow for the release of CC permitees names and other info to the public.

Senate Bill 708 would be great, but you guys really need House Bill 562 to pass.
Good luck on both.
If you have a State legislature site for people to follow the progress, do post the links.

good luck..... both bills need to be passed. I would like a bill in Texas like Bill 708.
We do not need "permission" from anyone to buy a handgun in Texas.... neither should anyone else regardless what state you live in.

We already have that. H937 was signed into law and took effect on October 1, 2013...about a year-and-a-half ago. This was a major pro-gun bill for North Carolina, and it brought in a lot of positive changes for NC gun owners and CHP holders.
One change is that it "Safeguards the confidentiality of individuals applying for a handgun purchase permit."
Another is that it "Ensures the privacy of CHP holders by allowing access to the database of permittees only for law enforcement purposes."
Those changes are part of the same law that now allows NC gun owners to put sound supressing devices on their firearms.
