Default Handgun Self Defense Strategy and Tactics -- Education & Training

I'm looking for resources (books, videos, web sites, extensive articles) that will help me formulate my personal self defense strategy and tactics. My primary interest is in response to a home invasion, but I'm also interested in dealing with threats away from home, like in my car, or when in remote areas while camping and bicycle riding.

(I apologize if this has already been thoroughly discussed somewhere, but after many searches I have not found anything. I actually expected to find something like this in the sticky threads section, but found it very lacking.)

I have searched both this forum and the 'net, and have not found anything comprehensive. I am a private individual, non LEO, looking for solid, well-founded, tried-and-tested, information.

I have found lots of bits and pieces, lots of opinions, but have not found anything really comprehensive and detailed.

If you have any resources you would recommend from personal experience/use, please post here.

If there are forums outside of the S&W forum that might be better to post this question, please let me know.

TIA.

Off the top of my head...

I like the Personal Defense Network. They have some good videos, articles, and books. I have their book on counter ambush tactics.

There's a book written by Ed Lovette and Dave Spaulding, I believe it's called Defensive Living, that has some good general purpose self defense advice.

There's a blog by a guy named Gregg Ellifritz (spelling...?) that has some good info.

Anything written by Massad Ayoob is usually held in high regard.

I don't think you'll find all your answers in one place. There are a lot of great instructors out there, but there isn't a single one that I agree with on everything. Most specialize or have expertise in a specific area, so gathering bits and pieces and putting them together into your own individual comprehensive whole is ultimately the way to go. However, if your a relative beginner lacking training or knowledge, you have to start somewhere and need some basic guidelines. There are countless resources out there for things such as basic tactics and overall strategy for home invasion scenarios. Names to look for IMO, Massad Ayoob, Rob Pincus, Michael Janich, Dave Spaulding, David Kenik just to name a few,but there are countless others. The Best Defense and Personal Defense TV television shows cover these things. The personal defense network has a lot of diverse information. Youtube has endless videos on the subject.

This is a great channel with a lot of Massad Ayoob videos... https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEE4D0E531146288D

Rory Miller. One of the best executive protection trainers in existence.. he has also written a number of books that were required reading (and I promise you, if you don't get trained by him, his books are even more important.)

Other reading:

Gavin de Becker: the Gift of Fear

Mark Fleisher: Beggars and Thieves

Kathy Jackson: Cornered Cat
