Concealed Carry Insurance
A friend of mine purchased a year's membership with the USCCA a couple weeks ago. He went with the Platinum plan at $359 (?) a year. Another friend has CCW Safe and it only runs him $125 a year. I believe he said CCWS pays legal fees as they're incurred instead of reimbursing after the dust settles? Due to the upside down liberal climate we're currently suffering through I'd like to have my butt covered in the event of a worst case scenario. I'm in Washington State and read we're in a grey area regarding stand your ground. Can anyone offer advice on which of the two is best or if there's a better one out there to be had?

Ask both organizations to send you details of the insurance policies involved or details of the benefits for members. Read them carefully.
One thing that sounds good is that the payment of legal bills as they are incurred makes life very easy for you if you're forced to head to court after a justified shooting. Those bills can be huge!

Both organizations have web sites where you can research them. My wife and I are in our second year of membership with CCW Safe. They send out a monthly newsletter and have informative videos on their web site. The one limitation to consider is that they only cover you in States where your CCW permit is recognized. That's OK by me because I have no desire to visit CA, OR, or WA anytime soon.

Hi. I am actually looking at Second Call Defense. What sold me on them is not only how the cover direct and indirect legal fees and lost wages, they offer post shooting counseling, which they will extend to my children. Chances are that since I am a single parent, there is a good likelihood hood that they could witness any armed encounter.

Been a member of the Armed Citizens' Legal Defense Network Inc. (ACLDN), for the fast 4 years. Recommend researching their website.
Recently, I have compaired CCW Safe, and they seem to offer better legal defense limits, bail assistance, etc.
I will need to consider this when I plan to renewal next year.

CCW Safe looks interesting. While reading their website I did notice they state they do not cover you for civil suit liabilities. I guess the coverage only covers criminal suit fees?

Not everyone's needs will be the same...After some research I found CCWsafe was the best for me...99 bucks is a cheap price to pay for peace of mind...

Concerning this subject in past threads, some have opined that to bring an unknown to locals, outside lawyer in to defend you will spell problems.
If our legal system really does run on the "Good ol' boy" system, I am seriously concerned.
I was hoping that the system was a little more "justified" than that.
Perhaps I live in a dream world.
I'm a member of CCW as it seemed to offer more of what I was looking for.
I hope I never need to find out how good it is, but at least I have something to back me if so.

I'll be following this since I am also in the market for this insurance for the first time. In my research so far, I came across this interesting article Armed Citizens and the Law * Blog Archive * Self-Defense Insurance
What stood out to me is the section on the ACLDN. At the end of that section, it mentions the possibility of pairing membership in the ACLDN with an insurance plan from USCCA, Second Call, etc., getting funds as needed from the fund at ACLDN, and using payouts from the insurance to reimburse the ACLDN after the fact. Sounds like a good plan to me, I'm considering ACLDN paired with Second Call. The overall combined benefits are very appealing. It will be a little more pricey, but I am one of the people who believes "two is one, and one is none".

Read the plans VERY carefully since some will NOT pay out if already covered OR to pay back to another plan.

Good to know, thank you. I still have more research to do, I still feel like I've only scratched the surface

I prefer and have had for many years the NRA sponsored insurance. I particularly like picking my own local lawyer for many reasons that your lawyer can explain to you.
