My co-workers and I recently started "Six-gun Sundays" at the gun shop we work at. I carry my 1954 Highway Patrolman, one co-worker carries a pre-14 K38 masterpiece, and the other carries a Colt Police Positive. We're also playing with the idea of "Wild West Wednesdays"... The three of us are around 22-23, so we're not old, but I feel like it sometimes.

Us "old guys", got this way for a reason. Keep that in mind when questioning our choices in guns. 😎

I'm older than most here. 85 to be exact. Been shooting since 1944. I've had most pistols both autos & revolvers since that time. Love my Luger & Ruger's but when push comes to shove my 638 comes out shooting, never a problem. My 686 is too big to carry & my 44's are in holsters. MY NAA 22 is in my shirt pocket most when camping & metal detecting. Snake shot in 3 & LR's in 2. Revolvers never let me down.

I'm only 30 so I don't consider myself as old, but I guess to someone 18 and younger I am. Anyways I've carried a S&W 642 as a back up on my ankle for the past 6 years. I just recently picked up a 442 that I intend to to do the same with. If I'm just running into town to pick up a few small items for the grocery store I'll grab one of the two and throw in my pocket.

At 68 this is my primary carry, Model 60, no dash, born in 1969. Otherwise I carry a Bulldog 44 Spl.

Plastic is for squirt guns, not for firearms!

My every day, all the time carry is this:

My backup firearm is usually my 3913DAO:

I like DAO 3rd gens that shoot just like my revolvers, NY reload 'cuz speed loaders can get you killed in a gunfight.

I like and enjoy my two current S&W revolvers AND my squirt gun, Tupperware tactical, brass belching Barbi jamming plastic P.O.S's that have been faithful companions from the late 80's through the day I retired from a career in L.E. and continue to serve today.

To denigrate their value because one prefers to carry something else is ignorant at best and disappointing coming from folks who should know better and whose posts I ordinarily respect.

Flame away if you feel the need to do so.

65 and gone back to my 36 or Mountain Gun in the winter. Love my 1911(s) but I don't like shooting them any more. Just hate picking up the brass. So I've become a revolver fanatic.

Glad I just finished my coffee.

(Not that there's anything wrong with it...just to be entirely politically correct for the first time in my life. )

OK blues7, I even liked your response, even though it don't necessarily agree with all of it I will defend your right to say it.

I'm thinking that windsong and I are doing some good natured tongue in cheek jibes, and not to be taken quite so seriously.

I do feel that the takeover of Polymer in firearms has denigrated the value of firearms in general. Injection molding machines have displaced the craftsmanship that it took to create fine firearms that can be works of art.

Having said that, I fully understand that others appreciate the weight savings and established reliability that they have been proven to have. So carry what you are proficient with and don't worry about what the naysayers might post.

We're fine, digiroc, and I saw your "like". I'm so used to folks using emoticons / smileys or whatever these days that if someone doesn't use 'em I'm not sure whether they are making a comment in jest or not.

Guess I'm getting old and cranky. (Not! )

Hey, I started my LE career with model 15, 36 and 19 and later a S&W 6906 was one of my first semi-auto's issued. (First was a gov't model, series 70 Colt.)

I get it and I appreciate the craftsmanship and beauty of revolvers. I also appreciate anything that flat out works and keeps (or at least kept) my *** alive on the street.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I appreciate 'em all. And I also appreciate your taking the time to express your thoughts as well.

Thumbs up Say What !

For the record I've even considered the CORE series just to get the advantage of a reflex sight.

I don't do the emojis but i guess I should work on that to set the mood for my sometimes outrageous comments.

Am 60 and carry 45 acp every day. Either xds or lightweight commander. Am starting to prepare for onsite of older age, and sold off multiple safe queens for the transition. Then bought a glock 19, just to see what all the last century was all about. Just got some 33 round mags, for funzies.

Like they say with old age comes much wisdom learning from mistakes. My CC is also a revolver, an LCR 357.

Isn't it strange that on most gun forums that the forum is based on a manufacturer that makes revolvers and semi autos that the forum topics and discussions are often more about the revolvers. It seems the pic of collections are big on revolvers.

I would say the reason that is so is that while ruger and s&w make the most popular revolvers their semi's don't rate the same. A man that carries a glock or a 1911 semi and wants a revolver must chose between one of the previous mentioned to get the same quality they are accustomed. I don't know if I am explaining it correctly.

I am 46 and carry either a .32 or .38 J frame. I have semi autos but always go back to the revolvers. Easy to carry and my wife is comfortable shooting them in case the need arises, which hopefully it never will.

Yeah you really want to avoid a lightweight high capacity accurate 100% reliable firearm.

Ok not 100% reliable but I've had more issues with my revolvers
and sent more back for warranty than I have glocks.

You can't win this one, my friend.

Some folks just don't care about the facts and that's their right.

Glocks and my S&W revolvers are the handguns that have stood the test of time for me and many others like you and me for many years. They are what I rely upon for my own protection and the protection of those close to me.

I will grant that Glocks may not be everyone's cup of tea...nor aesthetically pleasing to some though I've never been put off by their looks or their functionality.

To each their own. (Though the stridency does get a bit old.)

Nope. 48 and I rotate my LCR 38+p into my carry routine quite often. Love it's small size and can OWB carry it with a long shirt or jacket.

Nope...not really old but you're headed in the old direction.

I'm 73 and carried this model 36 today in the pocket of my Carhartt bib overalls. In a horsehide pocket holster of course.

I am 47.5. EDC is a 640ND, pocket carry. But I just picked up this holster for $5 so now I have a belt carry option.

Thanks, me too. I picked it up for $28 on closeout when CS changed from AUS8 to CTS-XHP Stainless Steel. It's the 4" version, strictly a carry last ditch knife for me, I have others for utility.

"Old" is when you don't have much interest in anything. I'm inches away from 67 and work on my guns, shoot a lot, make my own holsters, ride motorcycles, drive hot rods ---do my own work on them--- and rock out with the stereo cranked in my shop while playing with all the toys. On top of that, I have a vegetable garden, I cook from scratch every day, do all the home maintenance, yard work, cut and split firewood, hunt, fish and still party on occasion. Retirement is a full-time-plus job. The body is starting to betray me, but my mind is usually at full speed.

My EDC depends on what I'm doing, where I'm going, and what I feel like carrying at any one moment. I often change up from semi-auto to revolver, of vice versa, on any given day. I have a bunch to choose from and they all get let out to stretch their legs.

"Old" is a mind-set. If you keep the brain active and have an interest in life... good to go!

I'm fixing to be 26 and one of my main carry guns is a 28-2, I just never could warm up to the plastic guns. I have a couple Colt 1911s that I like, but other than them I really just like revolvers.

But according to my wife I'm actually an old man in a young man's body so what do I know?

Also, I'd like to see the plastic gun that's good enough to do this at 50ish yards.

I carry a variety that suits my mood. Revolvers or autos don't matter because I can put the bullets on target and that what counts. I may be old at 85 but much younger than many I know. I just got a new pocket gun today, a bodyguard. Second childhood or senile . I like it.

Guess I am over the Hill around here at 83! I carry a SW Shield .40 caliber. IWB, cross draw. I admit firing it 36 rounds during qualifications can make you wish it were over soon. I have two other semi-autos, a .380 and a 9mm Walther P38 (damned dangerous), plus a .38 Spl Colt Diamondback and a .38 Colt Police Positive which I haven't carried or fired for years. I do like the .40 Shield but probably would get the .9mm Shield if I were buying today. Carried the GI Issue 1911 early on in the USMC.. During service with the Border Patrol and Customs Service, revolvers were standard issue., .38 Spl. and later the .357. Both were too large for CC. For awhile I used the .38 SPL. airweight 2 inch Chief's Spl.. The pistol was an aluminum frame, too light and too much recoil at the time.
