Question Newbe Question

Ok, just joined this forum and after reading a bunch of posts, I have a question for you experienced guys out there. I have read in several posts on carry positions that state 3 o'clock or 4 o'clock position. What does that mean?

Please don't chew me up alive for asking this!

Just consider your waist a clock, 12 o'clock would be your belly button, 3 o'clock would be your right hip, 4 o'clock slightly behind your right hip.

Remember when it comes to firearms safety there are NO dumb questions, I'd Rather see a simple question than someone doing something bad because they didn't ask.

Look on the face of a clock. Those numbers around your waist. 12 is in front, 6,is your back 9 is left and 3 is right. Everything else falls into place around that

Welcome! As allthumbs said, there are no dumb questions ( well, almost none). If we all didn't ask 'dumb' questions from time to time, we'd all still be dumb.
The clock face is the answer. Just imagine you're looking down at yourself from above.
Oh, by the way, I gave you your FIRST 'like'. The unwritten rule here is that you buy a beer
for the person who gives the first 'like'.
What?....You didn't know that?
A few other things you'll often see here and elsewhere are;
OWB= Outside Waist Band
IWB= Inside Waist Band
AIWB= Appendix Inside Waist Band ( roughly 10/11:00 or 1/2:00 in front)
All referring to carry positions on the body.

And just as an aside, a good belt and holster are essential to carrying concealed comfortably and staying concealed.

As one of my teachers in H.S. told the class one time "There are no dumb questions just dumb people who choose to remain dumb because they don't ask".

There's also appendix carry.... where you carry (generally inside the waistband) right about where your appendix is (or was for many of us...). It's about 12:30 - 1:00.

YOU can't ask dumb questions!! That's my job!

No, seriously, you will find this to be a good group. Everyone will be more than happy to help you with your questions. It's a welcome change here, as opposed to many other forums.

Welcome aboard!

OP, your question is perfectly valid.

Teleconference training class, they give us a .mil website address. Guy asks, "Is that address case sensitive?"

Me: Did he just ask that?
Bill: Remember, no question is too stupid.
Me: Well yeah, but some questions are juuuuuust stupid enough.
Bill: Touché.

Very dangerous, do not carry this way also called the Mexican carry. May be why some don't have an appendix or talk a little funny. I read a very good article about this type carry in one of my gun magazine. Don't remember which one but if I find it I'll post which one....

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info guys.

I used to belong to a few other forums that if you asked that type of question you were completely chastised and belittled over it. Notice I said "forums I used to belong too!" Good to know that this is not one of those types of forums.

Jessie: Your Beer is in the mail!

Thanks Again!
Scott

Add *** to Jesse's list. Small of Back. Some carry there. I don't. I would not want to fall or get knocked down and mash steel into my lower spine.

people who say there are no dumb questions have never worked for an inbound call center!.

Seriously, I had to ask the same question. I didn't ask it online, but I did ask.
