Fall weather and concealing garments
Fall is here in PA. and it just became easier to carry the "bigger" guns. I LOVE cover garment weather.
I put my Kimber CDP on today, but that Jframe was still riding in my front pants pocket. Almost never with the .38
Does anyone else change firearms when it gets colder?

Summer time I carry a XDS in .45 ACP IWB . So yes I do change my carry guns. I will carry a full size 1911 OWB when I can were a light jacket or heavy coat as a secondary cover garment.

I started almost 30 years ago with a Star PD in .45, and now carry the Kimber CDP in a commander size. I have looked at the XDS. I am impressed by the size and ease of carry.

Summer weather usually finds me with a 649 in the front pocket.
When cooler weather hits, I am prone to carry my Sig 1911 Ultra Compact .45 IWB at 4:00ish. Light jackets, etc make that a comfortable option for me.
(I'm 'enjoying' the weather here in PA too.)

LCP in my pocket 365. But my hoodies are so roomy that I could get away with carrying a thumper.

Yes, I do that. Hot weather gets a Hawaiian shirt with a snubnose .357 or Colt Defender under it, but cooler weather gets a lightweight vest for office wear with a Valor V-Bob. Sometimes I even wear a shoulder holster and a blazer.

Nope, but then colder weather is questionable here.

ABSOLUTELY ! ! ! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY SIGNAL TO GO TO BIGGER WEAPONS, AND MORE OF THEM.....
I SOMETIMES CARRIED BOTH OF THESE M629s, AT THE SAME TIME, TO SERIOUS SOCIAL EVENTS IN THE WINTER---THE 8 3/8" IN A SHOULDER RIG, THE 3" ON MY HIP......
I WAS ONCE PULLED OVER IN A ROUTINE BOLO STOP, FOR A VEHICLE THAT JUST BARELY RESEMBLES MINE. WHEN YOUR LICENSE IS RUN, IT NOTIFIES THE OFFICER THAT YOU HAVE A PERMIT TO CARRY. HE ASKED IF I WAS ARMED, AND I ANSWERED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE. AT HIS POLITE REQUEST, I SHOWED HIM WHAT AND WHERE I WAS CARRYING.
HE WAS SURPRISED, AND ASKED ME, "WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF ? ? ?" I RESPONDED WITH. "NOT AN *EXPLETIVE* THING. HE LAUGHED AND BID ME TO, "HAVE A NICE DAY"......

I put my 4053 in the rotation when the weather dictates a sweatshirt. It stays in the safe during hot, sweaty months.

Same regular size guns all year.
Simple is good.

Same guns year around. I don't see the point in "summer" and "winter" carry--what you carry is either sufficient, or it's not.
I also think that upsizing isn't necessarily a good idea, because bulkier winter clothes can make accessing your 'gat harder. Getting a 6" barrel clear of the holster takes more movement than a 3" barrel.

I carry a 642 in the summer months in a pocket holster, and in the winter switch to a Sig 1911 classic IWB.

Summer means a 649 in the front pocket about 95% of the time. It is finally getting colder around here so sometimes I will have a .357 on me.

I carry a Glock 23 90 percent of the time year round here in Virginia.
I just change the cover garment according to the temperature.
One size larger polo shirts or pullover sweater works to conceal the Glock and one spare magazine.
A 442 is carried when belt carry is out of the question and a Glock 27 is my out of state carry belt gun because we are prohibited from carrying issued firearms outside of the Commonwealth unless for official business.

Mine is in a DeSantis Nemesis, but also the same gun all year long. Has been for eighteen years, and I carried another J-frame for a couple of years before that.
I've just never felt the need to change with the seasons.

Yes...Minnesota went to Fall CCW Conditions early September. All Summer and up til today it’s mostly been the 640 Pro and a few times the Sig P229s (9mm & 357Sig). Now the weather calls for at least a light jacket so plenty of cover for the 229 IWB in the back. I prefer the 357Sig in my P229 SAS, but the 9mm M11A1-D is really comfortable too.
The 640 Pro is easy and convenient for short local trips, and that’s pretty much what it does in the Winter.
Something you have to take in to account up North near a major city with lots of gangs is THEIR clothing. The gang bangers like to pad up with heavier clothing and thick jackets to protect themselves from police and other bangers. They do occasionally like to visit the burbs too...We’ve had a few of these in the past year...

Fall weather? Casual sport coat time with a 4 inch P&R Smith & Wesson Model 65-1 in a Bianchi 7 holster. Don't normally wear a tie, but that particular shirt collar won't stand up.

Of course!
My conceal carry vest accommodates everything but my 4 inch revolvers.

I change guns only for better concealment according to clothing I wear, not because of seasons of the year.
Choosing the right concealed carry clothing and position makes carrying a larger gun easier. About 90% of the time I carry a full size M&P 9 AIWB and a spare extended mag in an IWB carrier and a fixed blade knife—all in front. A light weight, slightly oversized untucked, patterned shirt works fine in the summer. A heavier patterned shirt in the winter.
Five % of the time I carry a 9mm Shield and spare extended mag in the same positions but with less concealing, somewhat tighter shirts (playing dress up, not so casual). The other 5% I carry a Shield in Thunderwear with a spare mag and knife when I have to tuck in a shirt and wear a sport coat or suit coat I may want to take off. Basically the same position all the time. Thunderwear eliminates the need for any covering garment but does require a reduced size gun.

yes
Fall is my favorite time of year. A light cover garment... tucked in shirt.....same gun every day regardless of weather. On the rare occasion my 4" 19 will accompany me instead of the 19 snub. In cold weather I add my 640 ND to the weak side coat pocket.

I carry the same way regardless of weather. IWB, 3:30, untucked shirt. So the only thing that changes is the sleeves of the shirt. Some people make things too complicated.
