Default And It Continues

Several cops shot in Dallas and people protesting in Seattle.

At least two police officers reportedly shot during Dallas protest | Fox News

I simply don't understand the mentality. I'm embarrassed.

People want safer neighborhoods. They want someone to stand up to the bad guys because they can't or are too scared too. But when those brave few that go into harms way are forced to defend themselves, they are automatically guilty of committing a crime.

Since when does DUE PROCESS not apply to cops? Since when do we assume and jump to conclusions BEFORE ALL the facts are known?

I don't get it.

Yeah, it rated one paragraph in the New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/08/us...nytcore-iphone

"Seven other police officers were also shot during a demonstration protesting the shootings in Minnesota and Louisiana this week, the police chief said."

[quote=BaldEagle1313;139157718]I just deleted about three paragraphs that would probably have gotten me a timeout from the big gorilla.

I don't understand it either, Kanew. I'm not sure I could. I'm not a police officer. I'm not a member of the group protesting. I probably never can understand the mind-set of either group because I don't ever live with what they live with./quote]

Let it be known here and now, the folks in blue have my respect and support. Let's remember this when they bring the bad guys to justice instead of shooting them like dogs.

I guess I should have left the last line (the one you didn't quote) off my previous post, because the post has been deleted. My intention was to publicly declare my support and prayers for the fallen officers and their families. I apparently crossed the line with my closing comment. First time in five years of membership. Sorry about that.

The less we respect one another the worse it gets. The worse it gets the less we trust one another. The less we trust one another the worse it gets. The worse it gets the less we respect one another. It's a cycle that needs to be broken.

It amazed me that the very people protesting cops had no problems hiding behind the cops when the gunfire erupted. And all the while the cops that are being protested are leading these same protesters to safety. Very ironic.

Well, Ballistic147, you're right.... It is ironic, and there should be a lesson there for all of America...That's what cops do, save people's lives, even the ones that were protesting them.

God bless the murdered officers souls, and bless their families that were left behind, and give strength and courage to the officers who are still dealing with the aftermath of this cowardly and senseless act.

The prayers and thoughts of myself and my family go out to all of the slain officers and their survivors, as well as the Dallas PD and DART officers.

Les

Sadly, it does continue. I am truly saddened by the tragic, unnecessary loss of life in Dallas. Unfortunately, those that want respect don't recognize that it is a two way street, you must give respect in order to get respect.

Why does this happen? . . . Here's why.
***
"Decency, security, and liberty alike demand that government officials shall be subjected to the same rules of conduct that are commands to the citizen. In a government of laws, existence of the government will be imperiled if it fails to observe the law scrupulously. Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. . . ."

God bless the Dallas Police Department (DPD) and DART officers. The Chief of Police and the Mayor demonstrated outstanding leadership during this tragedy. Leadership of that quality is uncommon these days. Dallas residents are backing the DPD with food, kindness and encouragement right now. I hope the citizens continue to actively support the police. Unfortunately, this is not going to get better anytime soon. The flames of hatred and division are being fanned by agendas detrimental to the welfare of the Republic.

This is coming into my neighborhood now, and now there is
an FBI riot alert out for Shreveport and Baton Rouge area,
which presents me with a problem. Can't travel safely there
for medical needs, so now I have to look at alternatives.
I do not want to drive into an area where streets are being
blocked by angry people. But due to the laws i can't protect
myself to travel to government property. If this thing is not
squelched quickly its going to be a massive problem for veterans.

I have family in law enforcement but the situation is getting
worse rapidly. Every time there is any incident anywhere it
is now, violence is spreading across the country. If police
officers are not safe from being targets neither are any of the
rest of us. I am advising everyone i know including old
friends in Louisiana to make sure they get handguns and
shotguns to protect themselves. Two incidents sets off this
many problems, it will snowball now.
