I had a Ruger SP-101 but I wanted a little pistol and I was able to get a Beretta Nano with the laser sight for $400 new out the door. I couldn't get used to the laser so I sold it for $100 so I have made out really well. I changed out what I had on the grips, first I had the Talon, then the Pachmayr but now I really like the Hogue slip on. It shoots very well for what it is.

As far as the rest of my EDC, well, a Buck 110, a Leatherman, my Streamlight flashlight and a handkerchief.

I'm the boring one: Glock 26 with an extra 17 round mag. This covers about every EDC situation I have. Before I switched to the Glock (3 years ago), I spent 15 years carrying a 642-1 with an additional 64-4 2" if I needed more.

Depending on my needs, the Glock is carried in:

An Alessi Ankle holster w the 10 round factory mag.
A Galco Horsehide Pocket holster w the 10 round factory mag.
A Mitch Rosen Clipper w the 12 round factory mag.
A Mitch Rosen Premier w the 12 round factory mag.

I traded my 3913 out for a Shield 45 carried in a fobus paddle holster with an under shirt and cover shirt. My badge is right in front of my holster. I never carry openly except of course while on duty.

Since buying this revolver I have not carried anything else.
It is a Ruger LCR 357 with a Talon canted holster which is made for the LCR. I carry this gun and holster in my front pocket. Very comfortable and easy access also. The trigger is awesome.

Seems like we have had this subject a few times before, but I don't mind
posting my EDC again: Ruger SP101 Concealed Hammer .357 Mag.
Crimson Trace, KD oxblood holster with gator trim, Simply Rugged
oxblood belt, Kershaw's Junkyard II knife, Remington Golden Sabers plus
5 more in a speed strip.

Here is a better photo of the SP101 with a Price Western version of
Chic Gaylord's Speed Scabbard and a Milt Sparks belt.

Nice pictures but holy cow...some of you carry enough to defend an entire city.

I carry a MP9C with CT in an Uncle Mike size 12...no extra mags, no knives, or other self defense tools.

It's keys hooked into belt loop, wallet, pistol, phone, and I'm off.

The extra mag isn't usually for fear of running out of ammo. It's because the most likely cause of a malfunction is mag related so the spare is to use if the first one fails for any reason. And for many of us the knife is more of a task oriented item then a defensive weapon though in a pinch it can serve that role as well.

I understand the perceived need to carry a spare magazine, as dumping the old magazine, clearing the weapon and inserting a fresh mag is the next step if "tap, rack, bang" fails.

On the other hand, in the real world a self defense situation will be over by then, so if you carry a semi-auto, it needs to be very, very reliable.

That's potentially an argument in favor of a revolver.

This is my day time EDC, although the revolver may vary from time to time, and at times I'll carry a speed strip instead, or even more often, just leave the extra ammo in the car:

At night I add a light:

The most important item is the pair of progressive readers.

Your point has validity. With that said, I put 500 rds through a single mag with the pistol before even considering it reliable. I have the utmost confidence in my carry pistol and mag.

As another posted, in a civilian self defense situation, the ammo in your mag and pistol are your primary for the defense and the fight duration fairly short. Law enforcement however, is a different category all together. Changing mag during a firefight gives the attacker time to return fire.

Both on days I'm at work. Just the 640 on my days off. Speed strip or two in the pocket. Wallets and phone (I don't carry flat badge in same wallet as my money). Use a Lobo Gun Leather off-set holster for the 640 for appendix carry.

My favorite. Switch things up a bit, depending on clothing and circumstances, but am happiest when toting this one.

MY primary carry gun is a Sig P228 9mm with 15 round magazine. In the summer with shorts and a tee shirt it's a pre Model 36 snub nose.

Today was a quiet wheelgun day; and a 66 & a 642 sat quietly in their holsters. The new fangled stainlessey steel ignored the rain when I took the garbage out. A Scout knife from GEC, a Buck 112, keys, Micra Leatherman, and a few coins kept my pockets balenced.

Just curious:

1. What are those grips?
2. Why do you have the mags fastened together? Just so it acts like one object? What does that do for a reload time?

Original issue grips. Many don't like them. They work great for me. Of course running K&L frame wheelguns in the 70's& 80's with rubber grips makes me immune to rubber hate.
As a LEO firearms instructer I taught intermediate students to run a qual course with a handicap to Raise the stress level. Example start a timed run with weapon not charged, duds in magizines, ect. This enhanced trouble fixing abilities on the run. Pay back was the old man had to run one . One student set me up with half of a 50 round qual with duds and one mag with two duds.
Now the answer. Mags together to make one lump in front pocket. Not recommended as under stress minor moter skills go away but
With the training and experience I've been lucky enough to have, grabbing one and stripping it out of the rubber band is not an issue. My issue is 60 year old eyes. Three dot sights are a blur. The big dot is a comfort

bmcgilvry,
If you don't mind me asking, who made your holster? I have been thinking of carrying my 4" model 10 more often, and trying to decide on a iwb holster for it.

While I am quite fickle and change frequently, I have become quite fond of this one and it has been my constant companion for about five months now.

Nice little revolver! Six shot? I just looked it up. It is a 5-shot.

Shot them at a paper target and switched to carrying a quality JHP for better ballistic performance and less risk of over penetration with a pass through wound.

Default Toilet Carry ...

Shoulder holsters have a lot going for them, especially if you have to go ...

either my Beretta PX4 9mm Sub-Compact or my S&W 40 Compact with
my Sig P238 as my bug .. an extra mag for each .. plus a NiteCore MH12 1000 lumen flash light .. both a P38 and a P-51 on my key chain along with a Res-Q-Me glass breaker/seatbelt cutter .. the usual mobile phone with the camera set to movie to be opened and used if needed ..

Phone can be used to record video or just taping a conversation ..

Looks to me like that would also work for an old redneck like me in 2017. Larry

Me too, Larry. I have a wonderful holster made by Keith44spec for it. It takes me back in time, nine years before I was born somebody ponied up for a shiny RM. EDC? No, too special for that.

It cost money to show off or go first class and and it is for sure that using that for an EDC is showing off and going first class. Larry

Now that the weather has cooled down somewhat, I'm back to EDC with my Kimber Ultra Carry in custom Ken Campbell (KC Gunleather) $OB rig.

Today it was this 1955 Terrier loaded with the mighty 145 grain lead round nose in a Barsony IWB holster, my car key with Lisa Simpson fob (given to me by my little niece), my retired guy creds with LEOSA card, driver's license, credit cards, and the current buy-10-get-one-free liquor store punch card, my dollar store reading glasses, and a little cash. I also carry my phone, but I needed it to take the picture.

No reload, knife, light, second gun, tourniquet, road flare, ceramic body armor, light saber, gas mask, slide rule, or ice cream scoop. Hell, I don't even wear a watch anymore.

The gun changes depending on whim and what was on TCM the night before. Everything else stays the same.
