Concealed Carry Insurance
Hi All,
I've been thinking about carrying and I will eventually, but in the meantime I was wondering if any of you have concealed carry insurance (CCI)? If so, how much do you pay annually (if you don't mind) and which carrier are you with? Does your insurance cover legal fees as well as your firearms arsenal or are these two separate insurance policies? Also, do you think it's necessary to have CCI it at all? I live in CT and research has shown that CT is not favorable to gun owners and those who find themselves inside of a courtroom for legally defending themselves. Most times, they end up paying lots of money in legal fees and later in civil cases. On the contrary, I recently read somewhere that the percentage of one actually pulling their pistol in a self defense encounter is something close to a 2% chance. With that in mind, I have decided to research this subject and decide if it's necessary for me to consider it or if it's an unnecessary expense. If there's any experience you'd like to share, please feel free. Thank you.

Probably closer to .0002%. I've been carrying close to forty years, unholstered 4 times and fired one shot "in anger" resulting in the end (no hits, no errors) of a "negative social encounter." If'n you are forced to use lethal force, your insurance will be least of your "new priorities." Joe

Gotcha. Depending on the situation, it doesn't always warrant jail time, but certainly will cost you (I presume) to clear any charges against you. Thanks for sharing.

I'm going with uscca they now have several cases out where they have backed their clients successfully to boot. It's comforting in a place like ohio where I will almost certainly be arrested after a self defense scenario

Remember insurance cannot pay if shooting was unintentional or until you're clear of criminal charges...which can take quite a while, tho need for representation may be immediate.
