Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson has posted a new list of states that Washington will honor. Tennessee has been removed from that listing. At the link below you can see that listing and scroll down the listing you will see he states:

Tennessee No Allows persons under 21-yrs-old to have license.

Concealed Weapon Reciprocity | Washington State

Tennessee will continue to honor Washington as Tennessee honors all other states permit/licenses.

OMG! I'll have to strike that off my bucket list now, but Ya'll are always welcome here! By the way, tell em' that Tennessee only issues permits to 18-20 yrs. old that are active military or honorably discharged. WE support the military.They earned the right.

Why would anyone from Tennessee want to go out/up there anyway? I think they have a volcano over there.

Let's see, in my 64 yrs I have been to Washington....zero times. I don't think I've left anything there. No need to go now. (snark off)

Prior to Bloomberg's groups and Washington's technology billionaires getting citizen's initiatives passed in the last two elections Washington's gun laws stood out in stark contrast to the state's blue politics. Most of the good laws remain. Unless law enforcement can prove a 21 year old or older applicant can not legally own a gun they must issue concealed pistol licenses. State law preempts county and city firearm laws so that except for establishing no shooting areas local gun laws can not be more restrictive than state laws. State law writes that 18 year olds can own handguns and carry them in their homes. Prior to Initiative 594 taking effect in Dec. 2014 18 year olds could buy hand guns, just not at FFLs. Out of fear of losing their seats many Democrat state legislators will not touch gun laws. Democrat Attorney General Ferguson was just reelected. Even if he plans to run again I doubt that he is concerned with the next election this early. He recently made local news promoting restrictions on simi-automatic long guns that are shaped like military weapons.

I guess there won't be any armed law abiding Tennesseans in Washington. The good people of Washington can go to bed feeling safer now.

Last time I was paying attention to their gun laws was in 2014 when a poll suggested that a huge number of Washington gun owners supported Initiative 594 mandating background checks on private gun sales. The good people of Washington overwhelming voted for it.

Fast forward a couple years... Read an article a few months ago that "gun crime" in Seattle had reached record levels. Must have been the result of armed Tennesseans running amok in their fine city with guns we bought back in Tennessee without a background check.

Problem solved.

I forgot to add that open carry has been legal in Washington since before statehood so Tennesseans can walk around most places armed.

Initiative 594 was passed largely by urban voters who were bombarded with over 11 million dollars worth of TV and radio ads. The same ad was repeated three times each break during prime time TV. The ad claimed all reasonable gun owners wanted I-594 to pass and came close to saying only criminals who wanted to watch cops die opposed it. VERY few voters realized how much was in I-594.

A peculiarity of Washington's citizens' initiative law is that after an initiative has been in effect two years the legislature can alter the law our citizens created including wiping the whole thing off the books. After an initiative clips their tax collections they nearly always vote their taxes back in.

Prior to 594's passage the state was 2 1/2 years behind entering retail modern hand gun purchases into their computer. Thanks to I-594 they now have the added work of entering all gun transfers. That would include loaning my Thompson Center Hawken to my cousin and the second transfer when he returns it. Funds to actually do that would have to be prioritized over doing the DNA tests on over 800 waiting rape evidence kits. Washington State is in contempt of the State Supreme Court for not adequately funding K-12 education. The court is demanding millions in fines for failing to comply. Since the legislature repeatedly proves itself incapable of funding the schools to the courts satisfaction there is hope I-594's transfer requirements will be lessened.

Same here...62 years & the farthest west I've been was Colorado...& that was nine years ago with my ex wife (wife at the time) so not a great experience anyway.
My son lives in Ft. Collins now, so maybe I'll head that way again...but no farther. I'm happy here in the south-east. 😆
