I don't find that to be the case.

But I'm willing to qualify that statement with the fact that their are a different safeties out there for the 1911 and for the Hi Power. That, and differences in the hands in question might make a difference in how well the safety falls under the thumb.

For some one very experienced with both auto's and revolvers I think one could do a rotation but a rather inexperienced person I would recommend to stay with one type and then maybe different sizes of that ..

I carry 3 different autos a S&W Compact in 40, Beretta PX4 Sub Compact in 9mm and Sig Legion P229 in 40 .. but when I change I will carry that pistol for months not just days or hours .. I carry all my waking hours and my carry pistol and holster is on my night stand next to the bed with a flashlight and my glasses when I sleep ..

I try to do 1-2 hours of at home training in the evening 2 times a week along with a minimum of 2 trips a month to the range .. though sometimes life gets in the way ..

Two are DA/SA with de-cockers and the Smith a striker fired .. none have external safety's .. I carry them in the same place in the same style holsters .. muscle memory does make a difference ..

A Sig P238 HD is usually in a pocket holster in a pocket somewhere its locked and loaded 1911 style .. it only has a safety lever on the left side and it is covered by the holster ..

I don't do any kind of rotation. I do have different guns for different circumstances.
Let me also add that I live and probably spend the majority of my time in a very safe area. There's just not much in the way of violent crime around here. An attack is possible, but the odds are in my favor that it just won't happen. OTOH, I do carry pretty much every day, everywhere just in case my luck runs out. If I walk out the door, I'm armed.

While the one gun, one place, all the time idea is probably the best. I like a bit of variety in my life.
These days I generally use one of three guns. For the most part I carry a Colt Commander .45 acp. When a smaller gun is called for, I carry a Colt Mustang XSP. On the rare occasion when deep concealment is required, I have a PSP-25.
You might note that they're all single action with very similar controls, just different sizes.

Now we come to the variety I spoke of. Every now and then I just get in the wheelgun mood. For anywhere from a week to a couple of months my primary becomes a 3" Model 13 with a Model 36 as its understudy.

Sometimes there's a special reason to carry something different. For example, I recently ran into my custom holster guy at a gun show and bought a really nice holster to fit my Walther PPK. So, for a couple of weeks there I carried it just to get the new holster broken in good.
BTW: its my personal belief that if you own a gun suitable for concealed carry that you should also own a proper holster for it. Even if you don't carry that gun regularly, there just might be times that you do carry it for whatever reason.

Every now and then, I might just be in the mood to carry something completely different just for the pure D ol' Hell of it. It could be anything from a .32 auto to a .45 Colt.

And here's something else. I shoot IDPA with both pistols and revolvers. I'm accustomed to drawing and firing both on the clock as it were. And with the rare exception of pocket carry (which I almost never do), every gun I carry is in the exact same place on my belt. Just behind my right hip bone at roughly the 3:30 position.
So it doesn't matter to me if its a SA pistol, DA/SA pistol or a DA revolver. When my hand hits the gun, it automatically knows what to do with it.

But that's just me. For you, things could be totally different.

When and if the moment of truth comes you will need to react instantly, w/o thinking. If your carrying a semi auto one day, and a revolver on another, things could go wrong. Please don't misunderstand. I do not mean to disrespect others or tell anyone what to do but I would not feel comfortable rotating weapons. Just my opinion which is free here so you can judge for yourself what it's worth.
From one old cop to another, 10-4, I couldn't agree more. Many moons ago, when I was a police firearms instructor, everyone in the FTU preached "MUSCLE MEMORY." Officers were told that under extreme stress, "you will not rise to the occasion, you will default to you level of training," which I am quite sure still rings true today.

We also preached "WATCH YOUR SIGHTS," but it didn't work very well in real world, lethal force encounters at bad breath distances. Every officer I've ever spoken to that was involved in a sudden OIS focused on the threat to his life rather than the sights on his handgun. I used to think laser sights were just a gimmick, but came to appreciate them as very practical, as they allow you to focus on the threat and your sights (laser dot) simultaneously. They really help 68-year-old eyes!

STAY SAFE and keep the brass flying!

I know some people like to rotate because they have multiply guns that they like. Some others have a few that they go between depending on situation, weather, and attire. I tend to not like roatation and stick to one primary ccw with a secondary gun that I will use if my attire or situation dictate a smaller, deeper concealment requirement.

I'm not a rotation kind of guy either OP. Were I going to I would think it would be best to stay with one that had the same manual of arms. Like a Speed Six or a snub K; or a Glock 26 or a M&P9C - shouldn't be a big issue. Assuming they are both worn the same way on your body.
