This thread has me chuckling!!

How about carrying into a foreign country without authorization?

Late 80's I had been working in a part time PD for close to a year and had been carrying on a permit for a couple years. I went to Burlington Vt to test for a full time position. I lived about 5 or so hours south in NYS. Showed up in Plattsburgh the afternoon before to meet a friend who was also taking the test. After dinner I went to my hotel room (in Plattsburgh). Couple hours later and bored, decided it'd be cool to see the Canadian border ..... having never been up there. Hop into my car and drive up. I end up in a lane for Canadian customs with no vehicles infront of me....Bam! I'm there., Tell the agent my story about living down south an just wanted to see the border. All is cool. He says welcome to Canada, Eh! Go right over there and turn left and you'll be in the lane back for NYS, USA. Why, thank you and off I go. I get in line, now with south bound traffic backed up by a couple cars, I waiting and repostion by self in the seat. Thunk! My elbow smacks into my model 469!!!! oh ****!!! Now it's winter time, and I'm on the Canadian border....it's cold as hell and I'm dressed accordingly. My turn to roll up to US Customs: Name? yada-yada Purpose of trip? Well, to see the Canadian and I'm up here to police test in Burlington.... How long out of country? Ummm, about two-three minutes. With that, he looked up from his booth and was like WHAT? Of course now I'm sweating like a ***** in church and I re-explain the whole thing (obviously wasn't really paying attention initially). He asks for my police ID and driver license (neither customs asked to see it at first contact) He queries me more about the test, my home location and work.....and cuts me loose!!!!

Back then crossing was border was like going through a toll both on the thruway..... Now, when I go camping with my boy scouts in Canada, it's like getting a rectal exam when we come home!!!!!!!
