By gollee, I can shoot a snub....
I haven't been real confident with snub revolvers because I just couldn't seem to shoot one well enough to satisfy me at all except at very close range.
I shot 50 rounds today, in my five shot J frame at some 5 and mostly 7 yards, shooting defensive style. Many were in the center, the rest were in the kill zone, except for two flyers that were still body shots.
I feel a lot more confident, if I can keep it up and just didn't have a great day at the range.

Good for you RW. Did you utilize modern technique with front sight flash picture?
I've been studying Sykes Fairbairn and to a lesser extent Applegate and point shooting. Going to take a course in two weeks with John Farnam where he emphasizes sighted fire at least past 12 feet. Probably will be shooting my 3 inch 36 - 1 and my 2 inch 638.

If you can shoot a snub you can shoot anything. I got addictive to the stubbies because they are so challenging. Especially double action.
I shoot mine 15 yds. at 5" Shoot and See targets and I do pretty well.
At 7 yds I can wear the 5" target out.
Stay with it and have fun.

I decided about 50 yrs. ago that a 2 in. barrel is not as much of a shooting handicap that many people claim it is. A "get off me gun" doesn't have to put the bullets in the same hole at 50 yds. I have never saw anything to make me change my mind. Larry

I just got my first snubby, a 640. Hope to get to the range tomorrow.
Glad to hear you had a good range day!

That was what I had in mind, but to a non-instructed extent. I've got much more to learn, but at least I feel like I can shoot the gun effectively. I hope with practice and learning it will be uphill from here. I had a snub model 10 years ago, and I just never got good with it. Of course with carry and SD nowadays the it's taken priority.
Hickok45 on Youtube gives me something to 'shoot' for. He rings a gong at 80 yards with a pocket pistol. Pretty much disproves the 'short barrels are less accurate' thing. Snubs are still hard to learn though.

Those are really good groups for those distances. I imagine those pachymars really help with accuracy.
I have magnas and Tyler Ts on my two steel j frames. I could probably get better accuracy with a medium sized grip but I usually carry my Bulldog anyway.
Can't really see you in the photo. A little hair and a shoulder.

Hogue and Pachmehr
The mod 38 was painful to shoot even with standard loads. The Hogue Monogrip fixed that. The mod 36 was 'tolerable' being all steel, but I put some Pachmehrs on it and that's what I shot today. Maybe that it what made some of the difference in my shooting.

My method of learning to shoot my 640 Centennial was....
load
shoot
say some colorful words
repeat, 2000 times.
The learning curve was rather shallow. However, I can now hit a paper plate @ 25 yds 80% of the time.
