Default Finally pulled the trigger on USCCA.

I had been thinking about it for a while. Only $150 a year and now I am eligible to win the guns they give away.

Not opposed to it. But personally it's not in our budget. Of course no one here aboard would ever look foward to using it. My plan has remained the same since 1980. If ever having to use firearm for self defense. My course of action. Be respectful of law enforcement on scene. Give my name with I D and carry. Tell respectfully I will not be saying any thing else untill I have lawyer with me.Yes more than $ 150 per year but works for me.

Last time I read the fine print, in their program, it was pretty much up to them who they helped.

Agreed. I just read the coverages, terms and conditions of the insurance policy. I think certain sections need to be clarified. Of course I read the document with a reasonable layperson's knowledge. So maybe my concerns are unwarranted. However if a reasonable person see a feathered bird on water, and it is quacking, it is reasonable to assume the bird is a duck. Maybe it isn't but it is reasonable to assume it is and then try to get a better interpretation of the bird.

Here are two of several concerns.

First the police stipulates that an insured cannot take legal action against the insurer unless the insurer has complied with all its obligations under the policy. Solet's say it does not comply with one obligation and refuses to do it. Read by me, the insured cannot take a legal action to compel compliance. So what is you recourse?

Second the policy says it will not cover any claim arising out of an act deemed to be criminal by a court. So let's say you shoot a person in self defense in your mind. The person sues you. The insurer is duty bond to defend you. However if you are charged and convicted of a crime as a result of the shooting it appears that the insurer has no obligation to cover the claim. In PA unless you see a person displaying a lethal weapon you could be guilty of a crime if you shoot the person. Courts here have ruled that fists and other body parts are not considered lethal weapons. So legal defense rights can be cloudy.

The terms, conditions, and definitions are in 27 page long policy. I question other things I read but I have better things to than a detailed analysis is something I am not going to purchase.

I chose USCCA because I can't afford to pay a liability judgment if a court ruled against me in a civil suit, and I can't financially jeopardize my children's future. After signing up with USCCA, I attended a US Law seminar, and liked what I heard, and signed up with them. I now have free legal coverage (without limits) throughout the country. I am now comfortable carrying, with respect to my legal coverage. Look into US Law Shield, and I think that you will have all your bases covered.

On the USCCA website it says, "Criminal Defense Protection Up To $150,000". That doesn't seem like that amount will go very far in a criminal case.

Also, you have to ask them how much input you get when they try to settle—and part of that settlement involves you losing your 2nd Amendment right and, thus, your CCW license/permit. If you refuse to settle with those terms, then what?

Does anyone here have any actual negative experience with CCW insurance of any kind?

I don't leave the house without my 638 Airweight on my belt and my USCCA card in my wallet. I carry them both to protect myself. I have talked to several people who have had to use this insurance and to a man they were glad they had it.
Their "Concealed Carry" magazine is top notch as well.

By pulling the trigger means you signed up? I spent $340 a year for two years with USCCA. Then I spent $129.00 joining CCW-Safe. It is not insurance. I got tired of spending so much with USCCA while they give firearms away. I have the same coverage for much less. Coverage appears much better to me. I can buy my own firearms and ammo with what I save.

I've been in the meeting when my organization discussed settlement with the insurance company multiple times. If you don't settle, and the lawsuit is asking for more than the policy limit, the organization and the various responsible members are now singularly and collectively liable for any amount awarded above the policy limit, and all parties must now retain their own counsel. I think it unlikely that a civil liability settlement with an individual would ever address personal 2nd Amendment rights. Criminally, you would never be forced by counsel to take a plea agreement and admit guilt, and counsel will certainly be required to mount a criminal defense at trial if you exercised that right. You will be notified of the potential consequences , which could be much worse than the issues agreed to with a plea. Also, I haven't read the fine print of the various CCW coverages, but it is possible that they may ask for more money to proceed to trial . . .

Often these kinds of giveaways are done in cooperation with the company as promotional deals, so unless you know that USCCA is actually buying those firearms and then giving them away, that probably isn't the reason for the cost. Does CCW-Safe have training materials and other add-ons to the insurance? That's more likely to be the cause of the price difference.

My only criticism so far is how much e-mail USCCA sends. I'm only subscribed to something like "news alerts" or whatever they call it, and I get 2-4 messages a day that aren't important at all.

Interesting thread. I'm going to get something I don't know what. There's Armed Legal Defense Network, NRA's Carry Guard USCCA and
CCW Safe. My take so far is Carry Guard is kind of pricey, but backed by the NRA. I've heard that USCCA will spam the heck out of you. From this thread CCW safe seems OK. I do want to check out Armed Legal Defense Network. At this point I don't know what's right for me. Any comments on any of these is most appreciated.

Well, certainly the NRA is not known to send out multiple unsolicited emails and mailings and phone calls to their already paying members

That would be nice. I look forward to it.

I don't trust any company that sends out volumes of emails. I don't have USCCA and I still get hundreds of emails from them.

I"ll give a doubleto that.

I can't believe the amount of paper mail I receive from the NRA let alone email. With what they spend on mail we could all be covered with carry insurance. If I renewed every time they sent a notice I'd me a member for 100 years. I will give them credit for the nice looking lady they picked to advertise there "Carry Guard" insurance.

At least the NRA mail can be stopped. A simple call has me at about one article of mail a month from the NRA. Because I'm an instructor, I get a few emails related to that, but nothing else.

Very difficult to stop the USCCA. At least I haven't been successful.
