S&W Model 629 3 inch barrel. Wish S&W made a boot grip like they do for the J-frame but they don't. Appreciate your input - and thanks guys.

Here is my 629 with Ahrend's grips. Fairly compact for carry.

There are also N frame Pachmayr Compac grips out there that are quite small. Not sure they still make them, but I got a set from eBay recently.

The Ahrends grip works fine with 44 Special, and it conceals well, but I wouldn't want to shoot a lot of full boat 44 Mag with these small hard wood grips.

There is a version of the secret service stocks for the N round butt. I can take 44 specials, but mags may sting a bit!

Eagle also makes stocks that might suit your N-frame round butt needs.

I have had good luck also with the Pachmayer Compact grips. Just enough but not too much for my hand.

Ahrend's Concealable Boot Grip for the N frame , in the exotic wood of your choice , might be just the ticket...check out their site.
Extremely pleased with the Retro Combats on the N frame model 58 in my avatar.

I put a set of Badger round butt grips with the finger grooves. Works quite well. I think that they have a boot grip also.

Depends on your hand size and body shape. For mine, the slim rubber finger-groove Hogues are outstanding on my 325PD. They are the best of ALL grips in fit, recoil control, concealability in a pancake holster at three o'clock, and weight.

Ahrends makes boot grips for the 629 which leave the bottom of the frame exposed. The Ahrends RB grips above are full length. Recoil distribution is about the same for each, but a longer grip provides better torque control, more important for LH shooting.

I have boot grips on a 3" 629, but full length RB "Banana" grips on a 4" model. I put Ahrends round-to-square grips on a 6" 629 because it is so durned barrel heavy I have to keep hitching up with RB grips.

Ahrends grips are wider across the back for recoil distribution, and promote a high grip for recoil control. The web of my thumb is most comfortable even with the top of the backstop. Hogue grips are thinner and have a palm bulge which places the web of my thumb about 1/2" below the break.

I have a set of VZ RB grips in checkered G-10 (dark cherry) on a 2-5/8" 629PC. They're comfortable, and a little longer, extending about 1/4" below the bottom of the frame.

Problem is grips are like shoes ..... very personal.... what works for one often is terrible for someone else.

I'm another fan of the Kim Ahrends grips on the short .44's

Craig Spegel's are nice but the two finger boot grip ones can be painful at times to me.

By virtue of having carried ( another brand ) .44mag with 2.75in bbl and K Rd grip frame, the grip is not the limiting factor for concealment, the cylinder is , so long as you don't go stupid huge on grips .

So select grips moreso for comfort/ control while shooting. I use Square butt Pach Grippers , and find them a suitable compromise for me.

The unasked question is El Paso Saddle #77 pancake .

I strongly believe all carry guns should have Crimson Trace laser grips.

Why? I wouldn't even think of owning a set. YMMV, clearly.

I used to have a 3" M629, Lew Horton edition. What a truckload to use for concealed carry - truly a YMMV proposition. Never mind that using .44 Magnum loads for concealed carry in an urban environment is fraught with negative secondary issues.

I thought of that M629 as my "boat gun" - like a boat owner - happiest two days - day I bought it and day I sold it.

Ahrends Retro Banana on a 25-2 Jovino. Same size as your 629.

629-6, going old school with Altamont Magna grips and a BK grip adapter.

I like Uncle Mikes Boot Grips but I think they're not made anymore. Can anybody compare these with the Eagle Secret Service grips (other than the obvious material difference)?

I like the grip and feel of rubber grips and most of my 3G semi's carry Hogue rubbers but I have put a pair of Pachmyr Compacts on my 547 K frame and like them for their compact boot grip style.

I also have similar size wood grips gifted to me by a member here and like them as well, less prone to snagging on cover garments:

Are you looking for wood boot grips or rubber ones?

These were made by both Sile and Uncle Mikes several decades ago. Not too comfortable to shoot, but really small to conceal

I went back to the factory Combat grips on that one, but I do not really carry it concealed any longer.

I am very fond of the Pachmayr Compacs. That grip is what the facotory shipped on all of the Night Guards in the beginning. Eventually they switched to a longer grip

I have even pocket carried these N-frame Night Guards in the 5.11 Covert Khakis While I initially felt self-conscious, no one ever noticed. Now I never worry about what I pocket carry

But black rubber is just so....I hate to say it, but they are homely, functional yes but still not great looking !
I just ordered a custom set from Kim Ahrend in Macassar Ebony to replace some B.F. Goodrich rubber ones. Got a BBQ to go to !

I've got a couple sets of older (no medallion) Pachmayr Compaq "K" frame grips that fit great on the Round butt N frames.
