It's a Glock. Still. Didn't change. Shooter made the shot. Good for everybody except the one guy. Couldn't have been a nine. Bullets would have fallen out of the barrel and dribbled down the street. Had to be a .45. Glock doesn't make a .46. Fifteen minutes to Wampner.

Thanks! I went through these videos yesterday. When I got to the bank robbery and the two suspects carrying AR-7's with 100 rd. Mags, wearing complete body armor, it scared the hell out of me. 1100 rds. fired in a 45 minute gunfight. No telling how many LEOs down. This is something that we can expect the way things are going, like San Bernadino, CA. And me with a Shield 7rd. .40CA..? And Kalifornia limiting mags, ammo and gun purchase.

Monday morning quarterback comment: I'm of the opinion that both officers running away from the house and the armed subject was a tactical error. There was a point when the officer at the door first saw the subject with the rifle and he could have taken cover to the side of the doorway and ordered the subject to drop the rifle - thereby alerting the other officer of the situation. Turning your back on an armed subject and running away from the threat could have been a deadly error under slightly different circumstances. Best to take immediate and direction action towards the threat.

Notice I said 'better form of concealment'. Most of the car isn't too good at stopping rifle rounds. Where the officer ended up is definitely not ideal. Obviously he had no choice & the car's backend is better than open ground.

Look at the B of A shootout in N. Hollywood in '97. Those CVPI's were getting shredded by badguys medium caliber rifle rounds.

I expect a high degree of accuracy from my guns, I expect them to be mechanically more accurate than I am. When I still owned my 67 in the 80's it would easily shoot once inch groups from a rest at 25 yards.

Because Glock owners are willing to accept less, and then brag about it, does not make Glocks perfect. They are capable of 25 yard shots to the center mass, and most police officers should also be capable.

Anything less is a joke.
How many real life scenarios have you been involved in to say that any less accuracy is a joke? This isn't bench shooting.

Back in the 1950's our Texas Sheriffs carried a 32-20 caliber revolver with at least a 7 inch long barrel.
They were very accurate out to 100 yards, and many burglars, outlaws, etc were shot and killed at this distance!

Less is always LESS, the impact margin only multiply with the error of shooting ability. So with a gun with marginal mechanical accuracy, and a shooter with marginal accuracy results in even wider spread.

The officer did a good job, clearly justified, and he was a trained SWAT marksman. But what if that shot had been taken by a not so well trained officer? A inch could make the difference between a success, or tragedy.

BTW I did not bring Glock up, another member did, and we have been off topic since. As far as I am concerned the incident was justified, and no matter what he was carrying that is ALL that matters.

RE: post #98

I started another thread to move the off topic part of this discussion to its own thread. I try as hard as I can to follow the rules. Apparently the mods felt it was better served by continuing this here.

We used to shoot atoms at 7 miles. THAT is distance shooting.
Thanks

WELL SAID! Its hard to make headshots at 25 yds. on a square range/stationary target.....while taking aim. There is no way a said person or officer would attempt such a feat under these circumstances. Biggest target---PERIOD!

I can't tell from those pics if he had a gun or not. Neither can I tell if he was aiming it. Neither did I see the gun at any time in the video. However, and this is a big one, the court ruled that he did have a rifle and was potentially shooting at the other officer.

This video is just one piece of evidence. There's a lot we can't see here.
Yes indeed. Videos can tell a thousand words, or a thousand lies. Too many incidents in LE where the video's hindered an investigation. Only the physical evidence is tells the story accurately. Cameras do not move at the speed of life nor can they articulate movement like human heads and eyes. They will never equal the field of vision of 'biologics'.

Howdy,

All I'm going to say is that once I get my range set up,

I WILL be shooting swinging steel at the maximum range our property will allow.

I plan to use Every gun I have (rifle & pistol) at maximum range.

Shooting a handgun at silhouette distances plus is a fun challenge.

Default Besides great shooting..

...that was a very professionally handled operation. I'm glad the officer had a lot to do to occupy his mind because he was obviously upset, but took care of all the details. Wow.

With a palm pistol. He hit his gong several times at 80 yards.

Like another here,
I recall the mounted Austin officer connecting with a 75 yard handgun shot.

When I started we qualified from 7 yards out to 50 yards......

Now in days....I don't see as well as I once did.

I'm kinda down to the 25 & 50 yard lines now.
But, can still can bust a few clays at the 100 yard berms.

In my prime, I was a handgun metallic silhouette shooter.

Them lit'l chickens & pigs weren't no problem...Standing off-hand.
The turkeys and rams would regularly fall to my 8 3/8" model 29.

As an ol friend once told me...."Them short snouted pistols are fine inside the city-limits.
But, when out on the rural route, the longer lengths rule the day!"

I believe in my handguns to shoot at extended ranges.

.
