Reciprocity Petition
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pet...permit-holders
I'm reposting a petition I saw on another Forum. I know there's various opinions on Federal legislation. Personally I think it's a positive pro gun law. We usually only get anti-gun legislation. I'd like to carry everywhere.

I find it amazing that there are so few signatures on this. All the forums I am on have a thread and link to it. 17 days to go and only a little over 14K signatures. I for one would love ot see it passed as when I step over the state line(I am only a couple miles from) I become illegal if I forget to leave my pistol home.

I think a lot of people are concerned that congressional intervention in concealed carry will end as well as congressional intervention in health care.
Instead of using legislation, opening interpretation to the whims of whichever party is in power, a clear favorable ruling from SCOTUS on the 2nd Amendment is preferable.

I posted a link to the petition at another gun forum. Many posts followed that they would not sign it because they feared the Feds would then change the regulations for carrying to comply with the strict rules of the most anti 2A states. Some refused to sign because they dis not wan their names on the petition because it might be a pseudo federal gun registry.
The Feds have not been able to pass a piece of anti 2A legislation in more than a decade. I just can't imagine them getting NY or NJ type regs in place even if they wanted to, which they don't. As for fear of a registry the Feds already have one with the names of everyone who has undergone a background check since they were started in the 90s. Go figure?

I do not sign petitions that want my information and don't offer confidentiality. Anyone can get the list and have all the information that need to start a negative campaign on and individual. My SIL, a very tech savvy person, was able to extricate himself from the fallout but only after his dead wife, my daughter, and my grand daughter had been the target of horrible comments.

Well, everyone has to do what they feel is best. My opinion is it's a name. I'm not giving my other personal information. The Government can see I'm a member of the NRA and gun boards. I'm not afraid to stand up for my rights. Hiding and staying silent does not protect you or your rights. As far as the legislation itself, it's just making all States recognize the permits. It's not a license or permit replacement. I don't see the harm on this legislation. Everybody wants pro gun rights but don't want to support any legislation. Everytime we just sit back and defend our rights when Democrats are in power and never pass anything pro gun when Republicans control the legislature. To keep missing opportunities to advance our agenda and expand our Constitutional freedoms to where they are supposed to be, makes no sense to me imho

OK. I want to be sure we're clear on this. We want the federal government to pass another gun law. Right? What could possibly go wrong?

It's to force all the States to recognize your rights don't end at the State Line. So passing law's should only be to take away from us? We shouldn't take the rare opportunity to take advantage of passing legislation in our favor? I'd like to be able to carry everywhere I go, don't know about you.

Won't sign it, never will, don't want it to happen. WHOSE local laws will be used to draft this legislation? If you think it will be from WY, AK, TX, FL, etc.,m instead of NY, NJ, CA, MA - you are sadly mistaken. We need LESS of this disaster we call a central socialist federal government in our lives, not more.

Every state already has different laws regarding carry. No doubt they will all try to have their version or part of in the bill. I like my PA laws! They're not the best but better than many. People use the DL as an example but tests for driving are standard. If you guys think there won't be a set standard you're kidding yourself. I like the fact that my license to carry is cheap, has no mandatory training, no restrictions on what gun, what ammo, and no 30.06 signs. This means I can have my steak in a restaurant that sells alcohol without a problem

I prefer to keep the federal government out of gun legislation unless it's Supreme Court ruling affirming 2nd amendment rights and having the 2nd equal to the first as unamiable rights" such as; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
