Default Opinions Re: Concealed Carry T-Shirts

Has anyone purchased or used/worn one of these T-Shirts specially designed for CCW? I normally wear XLG T-Shirts and my understanding is these things fit tight so the weapon does not bang against your ribs. These things are pricey and I don't want to waste my money so thanks in advance for any advise. I normally pocket carry a 340PD w/a Galco pocket holster, L/F pocket (leftie).

I've got one from one of the police supply makers and I've just never used it. They do hold the gun tightly against your body in the pockets but the non-gun-specific pockets are pretty shapeless and I thought a J-frame would maybe move around a lot. (The lightweight 340PD would probably work as well as anything, tho.) Further, since one would presumably be wearing a regular button-down shirt over the thing, your draw would look like Clark Kent's change into his Superman gear.

But I think the main reason why I've never worn it is . . . it just feels too weird. It's like a compression garment, like the Spanx gals wear to make themselves fit into their clothes. Honestly, I'm in decent shape, but with the exception of when I was in top notch shape a few years back, I would feel too much like I was trying to impress the ladies by slipping into a girdle.

So, it's a neat idea, but not for me. At least not at this point in my life. I'm keeping the thing around, though, in case I ever find a use for it.

My personal opinion is that you will find it uncomfortable if you plan to carry 10 - 12 hours daily, plus I think you will find that accessing your weapon if need be will be less than desirable even with snap button outer shirts.

Only way to know for sure if it works for you is to try it out for probably 2 to 3 weeks on a all day everyday trial period.

Who knows you may find it acceptable for your intended useage.
I personally do not.

My GUESS is that you will not like it for long-term wear, but that is only a guess based on informal input from others and no personal first-hand experience. I could be wrong. I have been wrong before.

The only garment I wear for anything larger than my Bodyguard.380 is a conceal carry vest. When I jog, it's a jogging holster.

A shirt that tight might defeat the purpose of staying cool.

I brought one at a discount from the local Gander Mountain which is closing. Use it to carry a Model 649 with a speed strip on the opposite side occasionally. It is comfortable but access is not its strong suit. Also, because it is meant to be worn as an undergarment the wicking action which would cool you down as you perspire is non-existent because the breeze required to evaporate the perspiration cannot occur because of the cover garment. I find it very warm as the temperature approaches 70 degrees. I think its best use would be in an air conditioned building in the summer. It could be used in the fall, winter and spring outdoors but then I will have better options because of jackets and coats.

Default check out the...

Check out the 'Kangaroo Carry' guys in Australia. Its basically an elastic shoulder holster and is VERY comfortable. They tout it as being good for air marshals for very long flights because of the comfort level.

I don't wear it tight enough to compress, but it sits on my belly which keeps it from slipping. It's worn outside whatever shirt you have so a jacket will cover it.

The biggest question I would have is ....does it retain it's shape or stretch. And.....can I return holster or will it collapse

Thanks everyone, think I'll give this a pass and stick w/pocket carry even though it sounds like this tight Tee might return my svelt shape (girdle?) @ age 70!

I wear a spandex 5.11 holster shirt while driving on long trips. It's been pretty easy for me to get used to. My EDC, an M&P 40c, stays firmly contained under my left arm, and is far more accessible than it would be if I had it in my pocket or IWB. And there's no chance of leaving it in the car as I might if I used an inside-the-auto holster. To protect my gun against perspiration, I carry it in my DeSantis Nemesis holster in the 5.11 pocket. While that adds bulk, it also makes it easier to draw. I always wear a loose, untucked sports shirt over this, and no one can tell I'm carrying. I've found it's more comfortable to wear a cotton undershirt under the holster shirt, as it allows more air circulation between the skin and the spandex. I've worn this rig all day while traveling and do not find it uncomfortable, even in the summer. It also provides support for my back, and it even (very slightly) enhances my manly physique .

RATHER THAN GO THIS ROUTE, I WOULD OPT FOR A SIMPLE, AND INEXPENSIVE, UNCLE MIKE'S NYLON, SHOULDER HOLSTER. UNCLE MIKE'S HOLSTERS ARE OF EXCELLENT QUALITY, VERY DURABLE, AND KEEP A WEAPON OF ANY LENGTH, AND WEIGHT, VERY SECURELY.......

I WOULD WEAR IT OVER A T-SHIRT, AND UNDER A LOOSE FITTING, BUTTON FRONT SHIRT, IN WARM WEATHER. I PREVER TO CARRY UNDER HAWAIIAN SHIRTS. THEIR BOLD BRIGHT PATTERNS SEEM TO DISGUISE ANY PRINTING OF THE WEAPON......

I AGREE WITH MOST OF THIS BUT WOULD SELECT A BETTER QUALITY HOLSTER

I looked into them and belly band holsters. I nixed both because I can't see how they would hold the gun secure,y and ready to draw, were harder to access than an IWB holster, and have no retention adjustment means as the elastic starts to stretch out. I am just happy with my Kydex IWB.

Have had one for many years. No issues for me. Can carry a Smith 37 and never know it's there. Colt 1908 you feel it because of the little extra weight.

que the scene from the movie "Tommy Boy" / fat guy in a little suit.

those carry shirts may work well on a slim guy, but for us of "porty build" , nope.

And that's the problem. The draw time is much slower than almost any other holster. But I've worn these a few times (when it was the only way I could conceal) and it is comfortable.

I've bought and worn the Under Tech under shirts. I have carried the S&W J frame and Kimber Micro 9.

Most comfortable way for me to carry, except pocket carry, that is not always available depending on pants.

I have both the T-shirt and the tank top under shirt prefer the cool tank top. I buy them "two" sizes bigger than I wear because I like to breath . Never notice gun banging against my ribs, but I'm pushing 70 and don't run/jump much .

As others have said, a slower way to draw, but I don't do anything fast anymore.

My daily costume is a long T shirt and Wranglers. I wear long sleeve T
shirt in Winter and short sleeve Spring, Summer, and Fall. I wear them
untucked with an OWB holstering my gun on my strong side hip.

For what its worth, I have found Duluth and Berne are good choices
but Carhardt is the best. You can find the right size so the shirt will
not print the gun and it will be long enough when untucked to conceal
well.

Got mine from Tru-Spec. Holds Shield well and doesn't print. Hard to tell the gun is there. Pricey though.
