Default Crossbreed IWB supertuck fix

IMG_2473.jpg

IMG_2472.jpg

I am very happy with my holster from crossbreed. except for the holes in my pants caused by the tip of barrel of my m&p 9mm sticking out of the molded piece.
I called cross breed to ask for a solution since I carry at the six o'clock position. They told me that the holster is not made for that position but the 5 o'clock position. I ask them if they knew that the gun would still make a hole in my pocket then. Their reply was to suggest moving it but they did not have a fix to my problem.
Ok, then if you find a problem, fix that problem. Here is my fix to this issue, add leather to the holster to cover said muzzle part.

If you're open to considering other similar holsters, then Alien Gear's Tuck 3.0 covers my Shield 9mm muzzle to the tip. I'm not sure of your M&P 9 (if it is a Shield or not). I also have a full-sized M1911 from Alien Gear and their Tuck 3.0 for it also covers the muzzle. Does it rub a hole in my pants? It hasn't yet.

I have thought about doing that. I carry a full size m&p 9, not the shield. I found that the main part of the crossbreed has been great for me but I will very much consider your suggestion if this fix does not work.
Thanks for the suggestion and picture.

Let me get this straight, you buy a holster to wear in a way it was not designed, call the company wanting them to fix it? Ok!It would have made since to buy the correct holster for that purpose?

You can't fix $$$$$$.

I've heard the same complaint from several people wearing the Crossbreed as intended. The end of the muzzle being exposed is a problem with this style holster regardless of how you wear it, period.

This is the message I got from crossbreed also. They do not suggest a point in the belt to wear the holster but the 6olcock was one place that it did not work for specifically.
So far, my fix has worked great in that position and I can suggest it for others in the future.
I understand that some may think my position crazy but for my life style and draw, it works well for me.

In my opinion it shows a flaw in their holster design. I had a Supertuck for a J frame that I used for a short while before switching to something else. It did not have that issue. I like Crossbreed but sometimes feel they are over priced. And I still can't understand why after all these years they won't offer holsters for revolvers in K or L frame.

Update: the new modified holster has not ripped my pants at all so far. I am glad I made this adjustment and will keep hoping that crossbreed will change this design so others will enjoy their S&W M&P 9mm full size on a everyday carry.

Well, 6 o'clock also puts the gun directly over your lower spine. Which is asking for a really, really bad back injury. It doesn't take much, either--just a hard fall flat on your back.

Wouldn't it be easier to get an OWB holster?

Personally I wouldn't buy any IWB holster that doesn't completely cover the muzzle. Seems like having the muzzle poking out of the holster is a good way for it to snag on something during the draw, for it to wear holes in your clothes, and to expose the muzzle of your gun to skin acids/salts. For any IWB I want all of the gun that is inside my pants to be fully covered. But that's just my opinion and YMMV.

I would agree but the way it feels in that position and the draw comes out, it has worked well for me as a everyday carry. So far sitting, and driving has not hurt me. I can see if I had a hard fall maybe but I guess I keep my pants up high enough to not cause issues yet.

In hind sight, alienware would have been the better choice for what you bring up. I am limited on my options for having lots of different holsters and did not see a lot of people complain about this even after reading about it when I had my problems. I also like my addition teaching me a skill and a way to make it work no matter what.

I didn't wear a coat over my OWB P229 Legion on Sunday; just a fleece vest. It was "obscured from view" which is the definition of concealed.

Down here in Texas I now carry my m&p 9mm in a safariland ALS paddle holster. I carry OWB, but I just throw a untucked unbuttoned short sleeve shirt over it... Very comfortable way to carry

So this is what is happened on having to update the leather since I poked a hole through leather are using this holster. I’m now researching getting a new holster with a full coverage. But for the moment, but investment of one dollar I have now will save this holster for one more go around so that I’m able to at least use what I’ve already bought. I do wish the cross. We’re going to head to make the adjustment to full coverage barrel Kodexs.

I hear this a lot, but have never seen it happen. Do you know of an actual case where this happened?

Have you ever fallen and landed on it? I think that was the point - that if you fall and land on it, having it pressed up against your spine - which is bone with very little tissue over it - then that will be pretty painful

A lot like having it strapped against your ribs and falling on it.

Has it ever happened? Who knows? Could it happen? Sure. And carrying is all about what COULD happen, right? Does that possibility make it an unacceptable risk? That's an individual question with individual answers.

Personally, the possibility of getting injured from falling on it isn't something I would be concerned about even if I felt that 6 o'clock was the best carry position for me. With the stiffness and range of comfortable motion of my shoulders, it definitely isn't - so that makes it a non-issue for me.

4 o'clock is about as far behind me as I can reach comfortably and quickly so that is where I wear my CCW. Again, it is very individual-specific.

I think he was answering the OP's question about putting a hole in his pants.

Ah, I see. Coming right on the heels of the comment about 6 o'clock being over the spine, it seemed to be in response to that point....

I do want to clarify my answer earlier.
No I have not had any trouble in my spine due to positioning of my holes for the 6 o’clock position.

I have had lots of trouble with this whole sure before the modification with ripping holes in my pants. Since the modification is been made, both versions of it, I have had no holes in my pants at all.
I understand a lot of people find it uncomfortable to reach Beyond the 4 o’clock position. For some reason, being in the middle of my back is not been a problem for me to reach into Trader Joe’s. I do help us this helps people to make the right decision for there or every day carry firearms.

First couple of hybrid holsters bought were supertucks horse hide. They all wore holes in pants from the clip attachment screws, and never could permanently stop the squeaking. None of my iwb hybrids cover the outside of the muzzle, but hey are worn at 3 or 4 oclock. Can easily see where wearing one at 6 oclock could wear through, especially with any slight bending motion.

Any of the hybirds bought were modified slightly, mostly by very slightly modifying the plastic molded part for better fit and ease of holstering.
