Deep Concealment
Carrying a Shield 9mm and in my job I absolutely cannot print in any way shape or form. I'm a short and sort of heavy set guy. I do wear 5.11 pants all the time with a 5.11 reversible belt. Unfortunately shirts are regular polo shirts tucked in. Can't change what clothes I wear. So based on this info what is my best bet for deep carry?
Thanks in advance

I like a Kangaroo carry rig worn over my t shirt and under my dress shirt. The key to a resonably fast draw is to go from the top through the neck opening. You might have to try a couple different rigs to find one that works for you.One of the joys of retirement is not having to do that any more !

In addition to the advice in previous posts:
1. Diet and exercise (and weight loss) seem to be the advice for about anything that ails you.
2. Looser (bigger) slacks.
3. Looser (bigger) shirts.
4. "Tuckable" holster. There are many manufacturers/makers/brands. You may have to try a few before finding one that works.
5. Smaller firearm and pocket carry.
6. Ankle/leg holster.

You could go for one of the sub compact .380 pistols but I've found most of them to be ammo picky to say the least. I've found that my 340PD is easily pocket carried in almost anything I wear.

Look into the Smart Carry line of holsters. Gun is carried below belt line and will disappear completely with the right pants. Since the gun is carried in the "crotch" area, people will not be looking in that area. Check out You Tube to see if this will work for you.

Pocket or ankle. Or both. Seated, whether in a car or elsewhere, the ankle is the BEST position. On the street, however, it would not ordinarily beat a sharp stick.
Looser clothing if necessary.
You may need a different gun.
P.S. An ankle holster should be worn over a sock, with another sock covering it and most of the gun. Renegade is the best ankle holster, although some of the others are OK, too.

GOING BY YOUR HANDLE.
A former RN myself, I NEVER carried while working in a hospital, just too much potential risk. Many hospitals are not exactly safe & in some very seedy areas. Doing visiting nursing I & many others including a lot of women did carry. IMO the thunder wear carry (while being slow) is about as secure and undetectable a carry there is without going internal. A small neck knife is a decent 2nd place alternative that MAY NOT get you fired or cost you your license. Your safety is job one. A job/license isn't much good to a corpse. Stay safe.

I like a 442 in my pocket. If my pocket can't take a 442, I use a Belly Band below my belt line because they are warm if placed too high. Thunder Wear my work better if needed daily.

Pistol Wear's Trump Card works well - it's replaced my SmartCarrys because it's so much less bulky.

That is my choice, but then I don't wear tactical clothing. A dead giveaway someone is carrying a firearm, no matter how well concealed. Unless a paramedic, and tactical pants are part of the uniform.

Sometimes the best way to hide something is in plain sight. Check out the various concealment models of Sneaky Pete Holsters. They even make some with a medical insignia on it.

A pocket holster that fits in the back pocket for Sig 238, 290, and 938 ..
solid back hides outline of your pistol .. other makes and models I'm sure a holster like this could be made for them also ...
Sig P238 290 938 Pocket Holster
Something worn on your belt might not be a good idea .. if someone were to want to see what you had inside that they might want one .. if you didn't show them suspension would be placed on you for what you might have in the belt attached holster like the Sneaky Pete !!

I have had good results with the 5.11 concealment holster undershirt. Slow to draw, but the bulge of the firearm is usually under your arm, so it conceals well.

Thanks for the suggestions! Kodiakco, the iTuck is not something I had seen before might work for my situation. Nachogrande, not a concern as I do not work anywhere near patient care, read office work nowhere near a hospital, clinic or physicians office.

I'm in a similar situation where I really don't anyone to know I'm carrying and a tucked shirt is the uniform...
My 442 in a Gould&Goolrich ankle holster works every day. Ankle carry does take getting used to but it's completely invisible and you can get the gun into action fairly quick...with practice

Drop this in yer pocket and it won't print. 9oz.
In a Desantis Nemesis its no bigger than a standard wallet.
My EDC gear. And that's a credit card wallet. The LCP is small, thin, light... and it's....
........... shootable. 7yds.

I'll pick up my LCP (original version) from my FFL Friday. Already have the Nemesis and have ordered extra mags.
You guys have convinced me.

When I need to go light I just grab my Seecamp 7.65mm. If needed I can drop it in a large shirt pocket.

Palmetto is selling the LCP for $169 (not the latest model). Heck, I paid close to $300 for mine.

I have yet to find a tuckable that does not print and show a strange bulge in your waistline. I do find a bellyband or Kangaroo shoulder holster to work well under a tucked in shirt with a Seecamp in my front pocket to handle an immediate threat or to at least have a gun palmed in my hand before I go ripping my shirt buttons or untucking it to get to my deep concealed piece.
Usually, it was a G26 or an MK40 in the shoulder holster. If wearing heavier trousers, a pocket gun like a Seecamp along with an ankle holster with a more robust firearm should cover all your daily CC needs.

Didn't notice the RN. You probably already know it, but you ABSOLUTELY MUST stay away from MRI equipment while armed, even if you have to vomit and go out to your car to get a spare shirt (and dump the gun).
You can Google it - an LEO got a cocked and LOCKED Colt Series 80 snatched away from him, and it discharged. I know you don't believe it. It happened anyway. Read the article. They had to power down the MRI to get the pistol off the wall of the MRI.
Oops, as they say in EOD. I just noticed that you probably don't work around MRI equipment. That's OK, doesn't hurt to pass the word, anyway.

Offhand I can't mentally compare a Shield 9mm with other guns because I don't have one but it cannot be much larger than a 2" barreled K frame and I can conceal one of those with ease in a pocket holster in loose, cargo pants. In the front, "hip" pocket. Otherwise, a smaller gun in a pocket holster. I hid a Beretta 950BS .25 ACP pistol in my hip pocket for years in a workplace where guns were forbidden. Nobody ever knew.

Pretty sure he has this thing that looks like a grenade pin that he fitted into the flat part of the barrel at the ejection port. It prevents the pistol from firing. It’s his version of a safety. He calls it an otapin. Seriously. Pretty sure that’s the guy.
