LCP Range Day
I p/u the LCP (not the LCP2) new in box last week and put over 250 rounds of FMJ & HP today w/o a single hiccup. The only change I made was a dallop of white paint on the front sight so my 71 y/o eyes could find it quickly. I would have done more shooting but my hand was cramping up and I’d run through all the ammo I had w/me. This little gun is accurate out to 7 yards (that’s all the distance I tried) and actually fun to shoot. I’m going to retire the Taurus TCP to the safe. I ordered a seven round mag from Ruger so I had both w/me today and will likely carry w/the seven rounder when I carry Elsie b/c it fits my XLG hands better. This is one sweet little pocket pistol.

Sounds great....I made the same "major" modification to my LCP,
some Krylon appliance touch up paint on the front post.
Really is surprising how well those tiny guns shoot

Good choice. I bought an LCP back about when they first came out to carry as a backup gun. My experience with micro pistols had been "spotty", and I was a little apprehensive about it. Prior to the LCP, I had carried a KelTek P-32 that ran reliably.
Well that LCP has impressed me. Accurate enough for its intended role, and 100% reliable with close to about a thousand rounds thru it. Only thing I did was replace the recoil spring as insurance due to the round count.
A few who have shot it complain about the trigger pull, but I like it. It is a little heavy, but smooth, and having grown up on DA revolvers, it feels good to me. Maybe its just me, but the thought of pocket carrying striker fired or cocked and locked SA auto's in a pocket sort of gives me pause... To this day, no matter what I am wearing, where I am going, or whatever else I may be carrying, that LCP is always in my front right pocket.

Good to hear that it's running OK sir. Mine is down at Ruger in Mayodan, NC now - the takedown pin kept walking out on it. I tried putting in a TandemKross TD pin and even it would walk out within five or six rounds. I've got a wanted-to-buy up on VaGT for an LCP Custom - but no one wants to part with their Custom yet...

LCP's are great little guns.
Always have one on me even in winter when carrying my Glock 21 or 30SF.
Hot summer days is the time for two, one front pocket and the other back pocket.

8 years of EDC over 1k rounds through it and all I did was change the spring and rod.
Not bad for a “cheap” gun

My brother has had zero problems reliability wise with the original LCP.
He went and bought an LCP2 and has been back to Ruger once and it still fails randomly it seems with every ammo and every mag combination. He has yet to send it back to Ruger. I believe it double feeds. Does the failures with multiple different shooters as well.
I love the size and reliability of the LCP. But is the worst trigger on any gun and worst (for me) accuracy of any gun I have ever shot in 50 years of my life. So I don't see the LCP in my future. LCP2 trigger is the opposite end of the extreme for me. As it was so light that I felt it was dangerous for a carry gun. So again with what I have seen for reliability and the trigger on the LCP2, it is also not in my future.
Not saying they are not a great guns. Just not right for me!
Smaller pocket carry for me is leaning towards LCR or S&W J-frame.

I also prefer the original LCP. That's just me. It is similar to my J frames as far as trigger pull and I'm comfortable with it in my pocket with that trigger pull.
Of course, it's in a pocket holster, too.

My preference is for the original LCP also b/c pocket carry w/the LCPII’s lighter trigger makes me nervous, especially in my pocket pointed where it is. My LCP’s trigger measures 8 lbs. and is similar to the j frame I’ve been shooting for almost 50 years. With the factory 7 round mag, and a six round mag as back up that gives me 14 rounds in a very small package. Also, the last LCP I had would stovepipe @ around 80 rounds I’m guessing b/c it was getting dirty, and this was w/all brands & types of ammo. When that happened I’d lock the slide open and wipe the feed ramp off w/my pinky and keep on going.

Me too. I sold the LCP2, but kept my old original LCP.

They had it right the first time around...
When the LCP first came on the market I replaced the P3AT that I been fussing over with a LCP and the same week my brother bought one, both of these little Rugers have been flawless for an astonishing amount of rounds, both still have their original recoil springs. My brother is a natural crack shot and once at a bowling pin shoot we frequent, he shot a sub 5sec table of pins with his,the whole place jaw dropped. These little pistols are more accurate than most will ever know.

Well fellas, my BG sits while my LCP II keeps right on rockin'. It is one of the most reliable little buggers I've ever handled. So everybody has a different story/need I guess. And yes, amazingly accurate! And first step is the dayglo front sight!

The search for my idea of an ideal pocket pistol ended 5 years ago when I test drove Ruthie's LCP. We have 'his & hers'. Awww!

I filed the sights off on the Raspberry LCP I clip carry in my front pocket 3 years ago. The bare metal nubs have never rusted.
Back pocket black LCP has sights for "long range" sniping work.
Love those two little mice's.
