Default Inside waistband extreme Comfort and concealability.. you can thank me later

Okay first you need the memory Comfort insoles you can get them at Walmart.

Second you need the HD velcro strips also at Walmart.

Then figure the placement on the back side of your inside waistband holster.. cut to fit and velcro two of them together.. then velcro those two to the back of the holster.

This will accomplish two things they are extremely soft and very comfortable.. plus they assist with pushing the bottom of your holster outward pushing the handle of your firearm in to you closer adding to concealability.

This is extremely comfortable and helpful for appendix carry.. see pictures...

This is a trend with some the newer kydex holster makers, of course they want $40.00 for the pad.

Not really...

...take this holster for example:

Mastermind Tactics Shop Radian Holster (Compact and Full Size)

I happen to know from personal experience that the quality of their work is quite good.

yes I have seen some of those foam rubber pads that they put on their holsters. The problem as I see it is those pads are uncoated and unprotected and seem to deteriorate very rapidly also they seem rather small. These shoe insoles seem very well made and very comfortable.

Or just oil and train the leather. Making the Holster wider make CC more noticeable especially if you tuck your shirt into one's trousers. I believe that CC is personal and to not to bring attention to myself.

where I think this modification would really be beneficial is on a full Kydex pancake style holster I have tried a few of those and they all seem stiff and rigid and uncomfortable. I think this kind of padding on the back of one of those would make it more comfortable. I may have to give one of those another try with these pads on the back.

I wear AIWB holsters every day with wedges made by the company I linked to above...and they are nothing if not durable as well as comfortable.

I don't know which you've had experience with but I can tell you that it's not the case with the ones I have used from Mastermind Tactics... or even my older version from JM Custom Kydex.

I have no interest in either company except as a paying customer...but I do want to ensure that my friends on the forum get the best current information.

Good idea, dben002 - thanks! I've duct-taped foam padding onto a couple of Kydex holsters that wanted to rub/dig, but this yours is a much slicker idea.

I find it easier to prioritize comfort above concealment, and carry OWB. Problem solved and none of all that.

Good thinking nevertheless.

I dreamed up this idea yesterday....and am totally surprised at just how well it is working and just how comfortable it is....

Sometimes I do amaze myself........check back in 6 months .

Really do want to try this on a AIWB full Kydex pancake rig like Harry's Holsters....without the padding I can't wear those things at all.......

Not to burst any bubbles, but the Dr. Scholl's remedy is a well known method of addressing holster comfort and has been used for years.

(Nothing much new under the sun. Still it's fun when you come up with the idea on your own.)

Well...it's okay to be proud of your discovery even if others had discovered it as well. (Besides, your mom would be happy that you weren't braggin' on yourself. )

I have an old picture somewhere on my hard drive of an abortion I assembled from an old neoprene insole and a kydex holster some years back. It worked...but the wedges I referred to are better, imho.

I'm glad you took my posts in the spirit intended.

I think I'm going to give this a try. I CC a SD40but I can't find anything comfortable due to my build and the length of the barrel. I have three holsters and the barrel digs into my side so I started carrying a kydex holster between my belt and my waistband. It works but it's not the best for concealment. This may solve my problem since I have the same problem with all three holsters, and I can't see buying another one to have the same problem. Thanks for posting this.

What position do you carry in?.. the nice thing about this is you can actually put on as many layers as you need just vellco each layer to the next layer then velcro the entire pack to the back of the holster.. I use two layers because that's what works for me but you can have three or four.

Do me a big favor and let me know how it works out for you please.

I'm a lefty, and I'd prefer to carry at eight o clock. This make the muzzle dig into my hip when standing. The holster I like the best can be carried around ten to eleven but when I sit the butt sticks way out and can be easily seen.

Have to ask.... what's the weapon ? the pads should resolve both issues unless you have a rather large handgun and are
positioning it rather high off your belt line...My Shield 45 is only high enough to get a full grip should I need it...and the pads push it into my body and it does not lean out when sitting...........appendix pad.jpg

High capacity double stack's are a little harder to do but they are doable with the proper amount of pads in the proper positions on the holster.

Not knowing what holster(s) you are rotating I would venture to guess you could do this even with the double stack 40.

The nice thing about the velcro attached to the back of the holster, is you can remove the pads and re-position them as often as you need to in order to find that sweet spot (lower, a little left or right of center). just be sure to cover the holster with sufficient velco to give yourself some move around room with the pad pack.....

Hope you give it a shot....hope it helps you as much as it helped me......send pictures if you do it.....

Thanks......

Don

I'm hoping to to get to the store over the next few days to pick what I need up. A while ago I tried a thick winter sock on the muzzle end of the holster and it did help, but the sock kept coming off. I have high hopes that this will work, and I will post pictures and results.

I did this yesterday, and it worked for me. I went with one layer for now to check it out and I'm very pleased to say it solved my problem. I couldn't find any soles with a flat heel at CVS, so I got the store band. I also found velcro there. I did one layer just to check it out on a We the People kydex holster and I may add a second layer later. Thanks to dben for posting this. Not only did it fix the muzzle problem, but also moved the butt further in so it doesn't stick out when I carry it where I want.

I should have looked closer because I see what you did with the curved heel pad. Tricky.

I'm going to try posting pictures.

Good Job.. Fantastic.....So glad it worked for you and the 40.......I am in the process of doing this will all my IWB holsters.........

For me it really does make a difference in comfort.....
