Little Caesars employee shoots, kills attacker wearing mask
HOLLY HILL, Fla. - A Holly Hill Little Caesars employee shot and killed a masked man who attacked him with a wooden post and scissors late Saturday, according to a police report.
Police: Holly Hill Little Caesars employee shoots, kills attacker wearing mask | WFTV
"Police Chief Steve Aldrich said there's no indication that anyone beside the masked man was involved in the attack.
"I'm glad that he was able to defend himself and that he's okay. It's just unfortunate that this whole episode occurred," he said."
--
If you listen to the whole news story, the reporter asks if the employee had the proper permits to carry. The police replied "that is part of the investigation."
edit: Another news outlet report. This one has more surveillance footage from outside,

Interesting, premeditated, perfectly timed, ambush-assault attack.

Sure appears the reporter is trying her best to make the employee out to be the bad guy, asking if he had the proper license to carry, what the corporate policy was on employee's being armed. I guess asking if the low life thug had any previous arrests, had a license to rob and attack stuff like that would not have made as good a story. Geez.

You buy a ticket, you take the ride.
Glad the employee is OK.
As to the perp and reporter, NHI.

Again?
Oh gosh, the misunderstood attacker has been denied a trial by his peers, rehabilitation, medical care, housing at state expense and an opportunity to someday be a productive member of society. Nobody should have guns, not even the police.

I don't know why we bother with a government in the US, we could just cede all power to the news media.

Going along with another thread, I look at instances like that and put myself in that situation. What if I walked out of a store and immediately get beaten with a club, by a deranged joker in a monster mask. I imagine it'd hurt and I'd be lucky to remain conscious. He was VERY lucky to be able to pull his pistol. By instinct, we put our hands up, in defense of such an attack, our hands could easily be too damaged to manipulate a pistol. He was very lucky to be able to. I like to think his survival instinct was more powerful than the attack.

It’s easy to figure out corporate’s position on this. They are facing potential bad press and a lawsuit.
If some poor guy trying to scratch out a living delivering pizzas for 8 bucks an hour gets murdered , it doesn’t cost them a dime.
Sad but true.

The pizza guy is lucky clownie did not hit him with something else. It could have been lights out with the first blow. A former employee, or someone that knew something of the comings/goings of the place??? Let's see what new policy corporate comes up with.

The Miami Herald reports that the 28-year-old employee, Heriberto Feliciano, has a permit for his gun. I imagine he doesn't have his gun any more, though. He may or may not get it back.
The Herald made no editorial comment about his having a permit...either pro-gun or anti-gun. They stated a fact, didn't make the employee out to be the bad guy.
The public has a right to know about things like this.

I totally agree, when as you said, they reported the facts, not an opinion or a spin, simply the facts. Most of us are sharp enough to make up our own judgement as to what happened. In this case with the video it was pretty evident. As you said, bad guy with a stick, uh club.

This comment, and the incident itself, makes a good point.
I think about this every time I read these threads where people are earnestly debating different shooting stances and other peripheral issues indicating they expect a self-defense situation to actually look the way it does in gun magazine photos: the defender holding his or her CCW handgun in a nice two-handed grip facing the baddie with a determined steely-eyed look.
Good for you if it happens that way, but don’t put all your eggs in that basket. Attackers generally don’t approach you slowly and menacingly flick their knives open like in bad movies, giving you lots of time.
You’re just as likely, maybe more likely, to have to somehow get your gun out and pointed at the attacker while he’s got you from behind and is choking the living daylights out of you, you’re on the ground getting kicked in the head, or like in this case he is wailing on you with a board or a bat.

A stick is no more than 2" in diameter. a club is twice that. Btw a switch is less than 1" dia. and a Rod is between 1`-2" and a Staff is 2-3"

As a kid, I got into Bruce Lee and his training philosophy is that it should be realistic as possible, so his students would train in the street clothes they showed up in, outdoors, on the street and in parks , etc.. He would set up scenarios that would put the students out of their comfort zones. A study of Lee's upbringing, he had to fight alot as a child, as he was bullied alot( which is what motivated him to be who he was), but the point is, he knew that fights are awkward and sudden, so he trained his student that way.
Also, when I was a kid, we use to have BB gun fights and shoot at each other at 3-5yrd distances and quickly learned what it takes to survive a shooting (no one wants to get shot, even by a bb gun, but some times it means taking a shot, to get away). Mainly, getting of the X and shooting while getting off the X and getting to cover. It's VERY awkward, but very effective. When I saw Gabe Suarez and his Force on Force training, I knew that that was right on. BB Guns are replaced by air soft, but everything else is the same.
That heroic teacher who took 3 shots to subdue that student is good example, it could have been fatal for him( the teen girl who was also shot is in critical condition), but he had to try. Luckily, he has a Guardian Angel.

Lowriderfxr is absolutely right. Companies Only care about being sued so they tell employees "Give them the money and they will leave." Back when stores went 24hrs a day in the early 70's that was more true than today. Nowdays in this violent society now only does the perp want the money they are hopped up on whatever and want to inflict the most damage to the victim. As far as this pizza case is concerned the victim's job could be in danger If he is the salaried store manager. He is leaving and locking up the store he Is salaried so he's "always on the clock" Instead of an hourly manager who would have "clocked out" and then he was attacked. Meaning he was on his own time after he walked out the door and it would be difficult for the company to say "we are firing you for using your legal firearm after you were off the clock."

Is that measured at the "hold'n" end or the "swat'n" end or is it an average of the two?

lol That'd definitely be the "hold'n" end, cause the "swat'n" end ALWAYS feels bigger. Trust me, I know, I was a hard headed, strong willed kid......lol

I'm sure he's had all that and many more freebies that you and I and other productive members of society have paid for over the years. Went lookin' for more freebies, met the end of the gimmee line.

Seeing as how nothing has been published about the attacker, not even his name, race, age, whatever...I'm curious as to how you know this? You don't know what he was looking for.
The police are still clueless about a possible motive. Was it robbery, did he have a grudge against the pizza guy, or was he simply wacko?
No one knows yet.
