Default Draw the line

Another assualt at a fast food place. Jacksonville. Seemes a customer threw a hot cup coffee on employee. Employee comes behind counter and slaps glasses off customer. I belive bolth customer and employee where females.I am retired now and 35 plus years in auto service half as a Tech over half in managment.I had a pretty good record. Of very few customer issuses. A few cussed me out but I was always able to resolve with out violence. In this case I think if I was going to come over the counter I would have taken this person to the ground and held this person their till cops got there. This would have been same case as if it would have been two males.I wouldn't have been doing any slapping. At the point the employee came across the country they already know they lost their job make it count in my view. And oh yes I would be filing charges on person slinging coffee and also my former employer would be paying my medical check also. What say you ?

Default ROLL THE FOOTAGE.

If the employee is looking for a payday, jumping over the counter didn't help her, IMO. That situation is exactly why we had to install bullet proof glass at the VAMC, & they did need to be cleaned often. Unless the employee had some serious burns, nobody is just gonna cut her a check. (again IMO) If the customer has no $, you aint gonna get any from her. Call police, DO NOTHING, show them the camera footage & go from there. Think bartenders never had a drink (or worse) chucked at them? Correction officers, I shudder to think. I've had Much worse flung at me, (coffee thank God) & never got a dime.

I’ve been reading a book called “Violence of Mind” by Varg Freeborn. He’s an ex-con. Grew up in a violent environment. Had his weapons and voting rights restored. Teaches defensive pistol courses.

One of his points is, you really don’t know the other person or their background. Once you decide to engage in a physical confrontation, you should expect the other person may be ready to escalate to deadly force. Prisons are full of people that have. His point being, you better think thrown coffee is worth a deadly force encounter when you decide to physically confront someone, because it could easily end up there.

His time in prison taught him that most people can’t even begin to imagine how violent some part of the population is.

I agree. I'm sometimes amazed at the people who are ready to "whup somebodys @**" without thinking through the consequences. There are people who will shoot you just for calling them a dirty name, much less starting a brawl with them. And just because your packing a firearm doesn't mean the other person won't shoot first or still shoot you after being shot themselves.

I've posted this story before but when I was 11-13 or so I was walking down Dodge street (Omaha) with some friends one night when a couple of guys drove by in a car.

One of my buddies made a smart assed comment to them and they flipped a U-turn and chased us down. Most of us got away, the guy with the mouth didn't.

We found him lying in the middle of 69th street in a puddle of blood and teeth. He said the guys in the car caught him and the driver got out and clubbed him across the face with a tire iron. The driver then got back in his car and drove away. He said the driver never said a word to him.

I don't trifle with people I don't know.

That was harsh. I presumed some of the tech years were in management.
Further, I say to OP, two spaces go after a period. Give our old eyes a break.

The grammar nazis are out in full force tonight. How you like triple spacing between sentences?

2 spaces is fine; it's the polite thing to do.
